It looks like the casing from a 6 volt C70 the later ones had a lower oil dipstick hole .

Interesting, that's my engine. It's 12V and its registered as a 1985 C90E, the V5 has both the chassis and engine numbers and both correspond to the numbers on the bike. It's an HA02E engine number 85cc

The lower oil filler hole was fitted to stop people overfilling the engine, HA is correct for a 12-volt engine but someone has had the cover off

The best of luck with your endeavour!
The advice re French (Bstrd) fuel stations on a Sunday is good. I took an ample supply of Euros for this (in an envelope) and got my pocket picked in a queue whilst waiting to pay. It was a quite complicated distraction technique involving about 4 a holes.
I had seen a couple of FB posts of yours and must admit I was intrigued as I know another guy with the same name on this forum with a C90, not sure if he's ridden his since restoration though.
Think I saw a post about accompanying you from Dover to Maidstone which I'll think about later as I'm only in SE Essex.
Oh, and my name is Chris Baker (also nearly Barker).

Re: Med2Med - For Alzheimer's and Stroke Ass
Update - 16th May 2021 - 96 Days till departure
France is on the government amber list and we're still waiting to see how and when travel restrictions will be eased. I'm fully vaccinated, Chris is awaiting his second jab. We have a plan b) which is round the UK clockwise from Kent picking up Lands End to John O'Groats then back to Kent.
Both bikes are a little poorly at the moment Blue Steel more so that Kitty, after a top end rebuild the plug strip repair wasn't the hoped for success, the engine is running but very underpowered, almost certainly the loss of power is loss of compression.
Various options being considered including a Lifan but we're presently weighing up the "morality" of the bike(s) being non OEM for the event versus the ongoing cost and subsequent reliability of keeping the original engines running. A tough one! That 4th gear on a semi auto Lifan replacement engine is appealing with a fully loaded bike for camping and our more than ample physiques!!
Anyway the engine is out of Blue Steel again and, I have to say it's not until you see them bare like this that you realise they're just glorified cycles

If you are down on compression a new piston and Cylinder kit for about £50 will sort it. Alan CF is the main man for engine rebuilds .

I'm going to a Honda owners club meeting (Kent branch) tonight I'll see if any members have C90's or parts and drum up some interest in your proposed trip.
