As Atodini says-badged as Honda 50 & fitted with dual seat. Methinks imported JDM bike with (from 1st August 1964) English reg-possibly a reregistered in UK AGE RELATED issued mark?
As far as reminiscences of the 60s go I was campaigning an uncared for Lambretta LD 150 with no previous CAREFUL owners in 1965-was my first powered 2 wheeler "LHS 468" and I was hooked on self-propulsion!!! Was already an avid cyclist since age of 11 when got my first Hercules 3 speed, followed by an Ernie Clements Falcon "racer" at 16 ( £32-10s-6d)
There was a lad at my school a year younger whose dad bought him a brand new Honda SS? 50 miniature motorcycle with 4? gears. It pulled two of us-I had full licence-he was on L plates revving the motor to what seemed like impossible heights to those of us brought up with British bikes or Italian scoots. Think my LD developed about 4bhp at crank!!! probably about the same as Gregs SS50? Happy Days!
Still got my Falcon AND it still works fine. Even fitted a new pair of tyres to it a couple of years back. I vaguely recall that I got it in the early '70's and it cost £99... Stickers all came off with a jet wash but paint is still original, in fact, bar tyres, chain and brake blocks it all is.

I've been riding it a bit since moving up here, trouble being that Mansfield is quite hilly and my legs are not what they once were!!!

Back to the 50 it was never called a cub , the colour is wrong and it was taxed when new before August ,B reg started on the first of January ,so the tax disc in the photos is a sign that is may have been off the road at some stage .

Registration years started August back in the day , if it’s genuine mileage it will have been off the road a lot

Fuel type Petrol
Date registered 28 April 1964
Registration dates
01/01/1963 to 31/12/1963 A reg - ABC123A
01/01/1964 to 31/12/1964 B reg
01/01/1965 to 31/12/1965 C reg
01/01/1966 to 31/12/1966 D reg
Then
01/01/1967 to 31/07/1967 E reg the short “year” because businesses didn’t want all the trade around Christmas because people had cottoned onto the “new reg” status and keeping up with the joneses, whoever they were. :D
Then
01/08/1967 to 31/07/1968 F reg
After that it followed the pattern we became familiar with, new reg day on 01/08 every year until the change to the latest reg system.
