Honda C125 Super Cub - Gear Lever
I collected a used Super Cub today and came across an issue with the gear lever which makes smooth down-changes nigh on impossible.
The Gear Lever measures 13" (330mm) - who has feet that big?
Previously I had an Innova (for a year/2,000 miles) and I'd perfected smooth down-changes by releasing my heel gently, to change down on the Super Cub I have to take my foot off of the footrest and press the gear lever down with my heel then replace my foot on the rest - this produces a snatchy gear change and I wondered if any one else has come across this?
I will check tomorrow if the gear lever spline is 10mm - and if so I will buy an Innova gear lever to solve the problem
Pete

It's a Heel & Toe lever so the spline is in the middle - and is 13" from end to end

I've always wondered whether the Japanese have very long feet or perhaps ride in winkle pickers. Never managed to heel and toe and my boots are size 11, plus don't have enough ankle articulation, never broken my left ankle either

I always use my toe for up and down changes as probably most do.

LOL, love the Winkle-pickers idea.
Thanks for the replies all - I will try an Innova gear lever on it and let you know if its an improvement

Know what you mean Pete, I have dainty size 9 1/2 feet. I just lift my foot off the rest and use my toe, that gives me more control. Have to do the same on the C90 as well.pete07bikes wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 9:14 pmI collected a used Super Cub today and came across an issue with the gear lever which makes smooth down-changes nigh on impossible.

Why not just cut off the heel part & use the toe change as you would a normal geared bike

Very logical that. Except I did that to my C90 years ago and forgot that very occasionally I pull my foot back to push the back down.125erCrazy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 07, 2020 1:10 pmWhy not just cut off the heel part & use the toe change as you would a normal geared bike
The Chinese levers I've fitted recently have a very small pad at the rear that can be bent out of the way a bit, seem ideal at the mo.

Re: Honda C125 Super Cub - Gear Lever
I have just acquired my first C90 and am looking for a gear change lever like the one pictured.
So I can change by hooking my toes under rather than using my heel (which is frankly too problematic for me)
Do you know the Spline size and a lever model I can purchase? It would need the cylindrical rubber front peg for comfort.
I was imagining Fitting a conventional front lever only but may as well keep the heel option For the authentic look (ish) at least.
