A tale of woe about my white SH125 (abs).
I’m sorry to report that Hondas are not as reliable as you would expect.
30.5.17 Bought the bike new.
26.10.18. 8400 miles approx. The belt had been screeching when I started from a standstill. I presumed was due to dust & I found difficulty removing he cover so the bike was under warrantee I had a new belt fitted at Blackpool Honda & the assembly cleaned out at a cost of £64.61.
26.2.19. 9962 miles recorded. The belt had started screeching again occasionally so I took it to Blackpool Honda for inspection & they couldn’t find a problem.
30.5.19. 11800 miles approx. Warrantee ran out.
19.8.19. 12862 miles recorded. There was persistent screeching every time I started from a standstill. Took the bike in to Blackpool Honda they dismantled the variator & showed me worn rollers a worn front pulley plate. The said that the belt was also frayed, would have to be replaced at a cost of £370.72 (See photo) & I paid the bill of £45.00 for the inspection.
19.8.19 I rang Honda Customer Service. They said that they would meet the cost of the parts if I paid for the labour which I agreed as it would save the cost of renewing the belt & weights at a service which was due at 16000miles.
30.8.19. 13322 miles recorded. The variator parts were replaced & I paid the labour cost of £108.00.
Now the screeching has started again I suppose it might be the clutch but I give it a week & take up the matter with Honda Customer Service.

Look up "Glazed clutch shoes" and see if the symptoms match yours.

should the clutch not have been inspected on previous work done. ?The belt and rollers may well be worn at those miles, if there is a screech, there is a problem, maybe a second opinion Geoff.

Thanks lads. I think you may have hit the nail on the head. Just had the bike into Blackpool Honda & they've "de-glazsed the the clutch". Seem to have done the job so far. No charge.

There’s nothing wrong about being a steady rider. It’s nice when you are retired & live in a lovely area like the Ribble Valley to ride down the back lanes at a pace which gives you the opportunity to admire the countryside. Us baby boomers really appreciate it & I would like to take this opportunity of thanking all you workers for paying our pensions.
