Lambretta Pato 151n

Post by 125erCrazy » Mon Aug 12, 2019 8:36 pm

These Chinese branded copies appeared about 2008 sold by non biking distributers.

I know their build and reputation was poor, very few sold (despite being £800+ fees) & there are 3 + a spare or repair on e-blag for £395.

However I got offered one today for little money unregistered & 1 mile on the odometer.

I'd have to invest time and money to collect/ register but as a project (I have no workshop now) felt it could be ok for sh*** & giggles left outside under a cover.

I wouldn't even get my money back for spares/repair as it's 150cc and not enough about for folk to actually want bits.

It's got a carb & drum brakes front & rear.

Would other folk bother or put the pennies towards something better (new biking kit might not be a bad idea after todays deluge) my hands are still purple from the dye out of my 3 year old gloves on heated grips

It'll have a GY6 of some description, which isn't a bad thing, but ultimately depends on who made it, and what version it is.

I'd drop Viper254 a PM and see if he knows anything about them and what motors they used.

Flattered to be remembered for my misguided obsession with Chinese bikes.

If I had to take a punt - and it very much is a punt - I'd say that's a Znen ZN150T-F.

So the motor is probably a Benning. If you get underneath it, have a squint at the engine number (probably just under left side crank) and see if it's BN157QMJ or let me know if it's something different.

Benning had a habit of fitting different GY6 heads with slightly longer valves, but you'd never know until you opened it and there's no reason you couldn't pop it back to the usual GY6 head with the normal valves as long as you did them both at the same time.

There's a good chance that the bits from the Lexmoto Firenze or the Direct Bikes version (can't remember the model now) will fit, so I reckon you'd be good for exhausts and such.

I don't think you can really go all that wrong with a GY6. I certainly miss mine - haven't got any at the moment :(

Absolutely spot on, so rather than misguided I'd say an expert in the field 8-)

Mates decided to keep it now (totally against his HD religion) & store it at his mum's in Cornwall for holiday use.

I suggested an October small scoot road trip to get it there ;)

Once again I am indebted to your knowledge & time, thank you (& will no doubt be shouting out for some more advice about this beast as I have no doubt I will own it within a year due to lack of use

Hi

Sorry to bring this up from the dead lol
Did you get the bike if so did you manage to register it?

I’ve got 3 unregistered ones that I got my hands on recently & I don’t have evidence of date of manufacture 🤦🏻

Sorry cant help you my mate still owns it & it comes into conversation once in a blue moon over coffee (we call it the Lambrachinky)

It just sits at the back of his garage unregistered & unloved with about 4 miles on the clock from the odd moment of 'i will do something with this'

Highway moyorcycles had one for sale and I believe sold it at a loss.

They are the wrong CC for learners, to old for ULEZ (sorry to burst your bubble) but I think youve bought a pig in a poke)

Ive asked my mate reg date for you but I recall the last time I muted interest he offered it for free & I still declined as money better spent elsewhere.

Spoke with my mate you need the manufacturing certificate to get it DVLA registered.

Im guessing you will have to treat it as a grey import without and go down the VOSA (i think its still called) approval route to get them road legal which likely more than their value :?

Keep us posted with your 3 & Highways sold one I might have another 'coffee chat'

You can register through lambretta owners club
I done mine in Yorkshire
You need an import letter from them to say it was before Nova certificate
109£ for the letter
You need to send current MOT certificate
2 proofs of id
He will fill in all forms from your basic import docs
I think his name is Rob Mckimsey though not sure
If you ring the lambretta centre at St Ives nr Peterborough they will tell you.
Once you contact him you will have no pr
