Re: the new Jawa
2-stroke 350 twins in a low state of tune have good low-end grunt and sound quite good when accelerating.
Decelerating sounds like shaking a steel bucket full of nails and large nuts.

Re: the new Jawa
brings it all back unfortunately, had an early e 150 mz many many moons ago,the one that the headlight attached to the tank all in one looked like a ikea reject, massive silencer for subduing the roar from that exhaust,50 mph came up in about an hour or two and 51mph in a day or so,used to get coppers stopping me in there jam jars as they wanted a laugh and see what on earth it was... cant remember how much l paid but it was cheaper than anything in SoT at the time, good points ?? none most likely the worst bike l ever owned

Been to F2 motorcycles a couple of years back for a bike collection, the guy running had a mint Austin allegro vp out back, and a passion for sidecars...came across as slightly eccentric, would fit in with you/us lot!

Re: the new Jawa
I rank mine as the best bike I ever owned. It's the bike that saved my sanity.andyk1k wrote: ↑Wed Nov 28, 2018 8:31 pmbrings it all back unfortunately, had an early e 150 mz many many moons ago,the one that the headlight attached to the tank all in one looked like a ikea reject, massive silencer for subduing the roar from that exhaust,50 mph came up in about an hour or two and 51mph in a day or so,used to get coppers stopping me in there jam jars as they wanted a laugh and see what on earth it was... cant remember how much l paid but it was cheaper than anything in SoT at the time, good points ?? none most likely the worst bike l ever owned
Mine was a later one, a '76 TS150. 6v electrics and Pneumant tyres (which I quite liked, particularly as I got them free.)
I got the bike itself for free, well technically for a favour but no money changed hands.
In '85 I had a bit of a meltdown. I strapped a tent and a sleeping bag plus a few clothes on my MZ and buggered off on my own for a day or two to get my head round things.
4 months later, I came back. For the first few weeks I avoided taking to anyone I really didn't have to.
Along the way, I got pissed with paras in Aldershot, sh***ed a couple of girls, and had two crazy Dutch bikers nick a rear wheel off another (abandoned) MZ because mine got wrecked but apart from that it was pretty uneventful. I came home much more relaxed. The bike came home held together with wire and tape ... but then it wasn't much different than when I set off.
Ring a ding ding!

Re: the new Jawa
They still allow 2 strokers in the UK? (one of the linked vids said "2016 Jawa UK spec"). I thought I had a "new" 2 stroke in my 04' Suzuki 50.

Re: the new Jawa
Short answer is no.
There was a loophole that allowed exemption from Euro 3 for a limited number of small volume sales, but that ended in 2017.
Whether something similar exists that allows exemption from Euro 4, I honestly don't know.
If F2 motorcycles still have 2 stroke Jawas for sale they may be pre-registered in 2017.

Re: the new Jawa
You aren't alone in disliking an MZ.I've had conversations with Austin Vince about the TS 125/150 MZs. He had one that he calls, "the worst bike in the world." He still uses photos and that description of it in some of his presentations. He was happy to hear about my positive experiences, though.andyk1k wrote: ↑Thu Nov 29, 2018 9:43 amThat's the bug~er bar the sideboard tank/headlight,memory is hazy these days so thanks for the share, have to agree no matter how hard you tried it couldn't be killed off,l should really revise and retract what l typed as end of the day mine was passed on still running and looking awful but utterly dependable

Re: the new Jawa
I had a P Reg Jawa 634 premix, bought it for 30 quid off a bloke who's garden shed i saw it leaning against in 1981.
Around 12 quid for a new Dynamo regulator from Kingstons in Notts and an old 6 Volt battery of an AP50 i think and off in the cloud of blue smoke i went.
Never had the auto change on that one just a normal clutch cable pushing the rod setup ,but a mate around the corner had a CZ250 with sidecar that had that auto setup.
Joined the Owners club for cheaper parts and even went to a few rallies, got an unofficial trophy one year for most appropriate number plate
Bikes reg was MUC 645P and it was as muccy if not more than the day i purchased it .
I quite like the look of the new one if you squint a bit it still looks a lot like the old 2 stroke twin with those teardrop crankcase covers.
Got a photo of me next to it (my old one not the new one) somewhere i'll upload for it a laugh if i can find it !
