z50a project
I spent almost a year looking for a z50a frame , then I get 2 at the same time with big box of bits. The frames are k1 ,k2. The bonus is both frames will come with nova paperwork. so should help with registration(theoretically ..lol)
Once paperwork has arrived ill offer the other frame for sale .
Im keen on keeping the k2 frame ill most likely put the c90 /110 engine I originally built for the crf50.in it. Hopefully ill do yellow/white spray job, with a few modern mods

This is how my 1970 Z88K1 started out.
Was fitted with a ST70 engine bored to 88cc.
Yes the winky tinkers did work, bike was called area 51 as the backlight mount came from Roswell in the usa.
Forks and wheels are a mix of JC M50 and Honda.

Re: z50a project
Nice pics Steve. looking at the metro in background im guessing pic taken late 80s early 90s?
I got 2 tanks with my box of bits, both are salvageable , the blue tank looking the better of the two. its in pretty good shape for a 50 year old tank ,but has suffered a split around the petrol tap thread ,and has had a small repair in corner . Shall I attempt a thin weld around the thread or cut out a piece as shown with marker and replace ? Thoughts ,suggestions welcomed.

Re: z50a project
Got the NOVA number though last week so the builds a go.Quick mock up today ,to see what does and doesn't fit , the rear caliper fits on caliper mount bracket , but doesn't sit straight on the disc. Now I understand why there was no returns on this when I bought it . Easily fixed ill re-drill and tap another mount hole .Rear master cyl bracket sits sweet on the engine case but the master cyl is fouled by the frame , nothing a little spacing cant sort out I need some wheels

Re: z50a project
squeezed a 130 rear tyre in there . but had to space out the wheel from hub. Im fairly sure ooracing do a spacing kit
Most likely taking a break from it now . once I start I cant leave it alone till its finished ,and whole idea was to do a project as part of my pre retirement plan
For some reason cant switch the pic round ,its right way up before loading but upside down on forum .
Help from admin appreciated .
