Fresh meat for ripping into!

Post by Gus » Wed Aug 01, 2018 9:18 pm

Good evening Gents.

I've asked to join the forum to get some information from the knowlegable members

My only previous Cub history was riding one round a friends field when I was early teens and helping a Moped Mayhem team race against them back in the 80's.

My previous motorcycles and current have pretty much always been big old air cooled Kawasakis.

However I have been offered this wee beastie at what I think is a fairish price (could be wrong though).

Only thing is, I don't know Jack about it or which model it even is.

What do you think?

Thanks in advance and please be gentle with this cub virgin

Well i can tell you that its a 1969 ish C50E, as the frame number starts with C50E and its a G Reg  which is good as it will take the larger 12v C90 Engine or bigger Pit bike Engine, which will require a rewire to 12v, depends on what you want, if you want a C90 i would simply go and by a 12v square headlamp model as it would cost the same to restore and convert the C50, if your looking to restore it and keep standard then it looks a good start, if your thinging Street cub, agian so many turn up on Ebay they are cheaper to buy then build.

Thanks Terry

Tax and MOT exempt so keep it as it is , 68/69 . For local runs the C50 is great cheap on fuel and good for 50mph down hill with a following gale

Hi again.

Thanks for the replies.

I haven't seen it in the flesh yet only these pictures and some more.

I believe it is a one owner from new and a lady used it for pottering around Cheltenham.

Apparently she had a tumble on it and it was parked up after that quite a few years ago.

I think the speedo reads 7000 something miles.

I think I'll take the chance and buy it see if it runs and then think what to do.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from the pics it looks like the "big clutch" motor like the C90 6 volt, which is not compatible with the newer 12v motor bolt pattern.

Have another look at the pictures...small tank=C50, tank decals on the tank say C50, frame number starts with C50, so its clearly a C50
