SH300 - heated grips advice

Post by Wuyang » Tue Nov 21, 2017 10:37 pm

Well I'm hoping somebody maybe able to point me in the right direction regarding Oxford heated grips.

Anybody know which ones I need? When I search it seems to come up with the Oxford adventure grips rather than the conventional ones...slightly confused as to why. Anybody been there and done this?

Cheers
Wuyang

You may get more advice from the Maxi Muppets site.

Although there are a few SH300 owners and ex owners on here, there are far more on that forum.

Also, though not completely relevant if you are set on Oxford brand grips, I think that Honda do their own set specifically for the SH300. I could be wrong.

Any reason you're looking at the Oxford ones in particular? I've had a few sets fitted over the years, my most recent (and favourite) being a set on my Address.

The Honda's own ones are likely to be pretty pricey, and to be honest I can't usually see the benefit in paying much more than £40.

I've got a set of Oxford grips on the 300 Forza....amply hot enough.....would be even better with a pair of bar muffs

Got bar muffs on the Kayak at the mo, great but a bit of a faff getting hands (with big gloves - OK with Summer gloves) in and out.

I have Barkbuster Blizzards on the BM though which are excellent as they are a large fabric guard with a bendable outer frame and your hands are covered up to the knuckles. Work well with the heated grips. They are "universal" fit and need static bar ends though, come with loads of fitting bits.

Oh and being fabric they don't restrict you using full lock.

Cheers all......open to any reliable make......, I can't find where I read it recently, but sure it read regarding the sh3 bars....22mm on one side 25 the other....anybody shed any light on this.....or know the bar size....I was thinking 22.

I've got one of the givi sliding screens which does keep some wind of your hands.....all though not as effective as a nice warm muff.

It will be to do with the throttle tubes - one grip will be larger than the other.

I have never got on with grips myself. A extra layer on the body plus bar muff is a much better solution. This subject came up not to long ago. I suffer from bad circulation in my fingers and toes and after lots of research i can control the white finger by keeping my core warm. Heated grips only kept my palms warm up to 40 mph. They did nothing for keeping my fingers warm or stopping the white fingers.

I suffer badly with my legs.......I usually have thermal leggings, joggers, army softies, and waterproof trousers....if necessary a add a sheet of thermal camping mat under my waterproofs....and I still can get bloody cold legs.

Just got in the post today a tucano urbano thing that attatches to the bike ( for the sh).

Don't know if I can fit muffs on with the screen but worth looking into.

Can you let me know how you get on please. It's an option I'm looking at if I get an SH.
