Innova exhaust.

Post by midget » Sat Sep 02, 2017 2:20 pm

Just done the annual service on the Innova and noticed a tiny rust hole appearing in the exhaust primary pipe very close to the join with the head.
Seems to be that the system is one piece all the way! is it possible to purchase just the front section and the join to silencer etc, or is it only available in one lump?
I could weld it,but as it would be all off anyway would prefer to use new--it only going to go again soon.
Quite pleased actually to find this leak, as it explains the occasional backfire which has started recently. The wife uses it more than me for small shopping trips.

I see you have an SH300 as well Midget. How does the seat height compare with the Innova?

Last time I bought an Innova exhaust it was a one piece system.

All the Innova exhausts I have had are 1 piece. Never seen a 2 piece one

Thanks for confirmation. I'll weld it for now, although plenty of new ones on Fleabay for £49.99.
Seat height much more comfortable on the SH but I still needed an"air bag" for it to improve.
I also had the Innova seat reprofiled--still not right though :(

Damned annoyed with local Main Dealer as travelled to get a plug for service and they could not supply!!
Ordered one from ebay in the end as Halfords had none either.
On another point--many people say that oil consumption is poor with the Innova. I measure the oil that I drain out at service ever since new,and it never has used a drop. Is this not normal?

Mine never used to use a drop. Then I went to Spain on it and it Drank oil all the way there and all the way back. Once it was back just knocking around it never used any again. On the Spanish trip it was way overloaded and spent a lot of the time with the throttle on the stop :? .

Furthest I've ever been on mine was fag run to Belgium flat out all the way,but it is usually used by wife for smallish shopping trips.
That was before I got the SH300i ;)

My 44,000 mile Innova uses about 150ml every 100 miles - piston ring wear? Has been stripped for a new big end bearing after I took it through a flooded road (water up to seat ). Didn't renew any of the top end.
My other Innova (13,000 miles) hardly uses any oil.
