Innova vs wave comparison

Post by Wuyang » Sun Apr 09, 2017 10:18 am

Anybody have any actual experience of riding both and can shed some light on the performance difference. And any other difference they are aware of. The wave would be used for mainly odd dual carriage ways around town, but mainly for fun on the country roads around where we live which have plenty of steep hills......they would be carrying 18 plus stone of Yorkshire man.

Or if anybody could let me know what speeds to expect from the wave and how they have found them.....we have plenty of experience of innova's but not waves.

Thanks

I'm 10 stone on a heavy day, so I prefer the Wave over the Innova due to the weight. My 110 is around 10 kg lighter I believe than the Innova, but for some reason it seems to make a huge difference when throwing it around town.

My Wave would touch 73 on a good day (2016' model).

Cheers for that....did you find any difference in the drop of your legs from seat to foot pegs....eg less cramped or more or less the same?

Also you find much difference going up hill....?

So overall why you prefer wave?

Thanks for your help.

Let's be clear here. Wuyang is talking about the UK model 125 Innova and the UK model Wave 110.

Models in other countries and on other continents may well vary.

^^Yep, and that's why I'm saying "Innova", what I've ridden is actually called the Future 125, but carries the same chassis designation as the Innova (ANF 125), just different signal stalk locations.

Also to clarify, my Wave 110 is a carbed model but the Fi version behaves about the same in power, slightly more "sanitised", meaning there isn't that midrange carb "snap" between 1/3 and 1/2 throttle. Chassis again the same as the UK model as mine isn't the Wave "Alpha", which is a different bike altogether.

Pics for reference

@Wuyang, I'm haven't noticed much of a difference having cramped legs between the two, but I am short at 5'6". I do know one of my American friends who is 6'4" and says the 110 is just big enough for him.

I can't really comment on hills as there really are no big hills where I live though. Taking them through the dirt and mud however, I like the 110 because it's smaller and lighter, but again I am very small myself so that's likely a big reason. The Innova is just a touch to bulky for SE Asian traffic for my liking. If I was taller though, I think I'd take the 125 over the 110 because of more low down torque and much beefier internals when it comes to the motor.

I'd love those future alloy wheels instead of the rubbish rusting spoke wheels on my Innova.

The general consensus on the German Honda-innova.de forum is that the Wave is just as fast as, and more inspiring to ride than the Innova, because of the spritier engine, where the Innova is more a low-rev job.

I'd have been surprised if you didn't know the ins and outs of the different models.

I was more anticipating other comments regarding Waves from different zones. For example where the Innova was sold as a Wave in certain countries, and other Waves in other countries were a totally different model. 8-)

^^Yep, I just wanted to clarify as well, as it's sometimes confusing to me too.

I supposed I can post this review I did on my Wave 110 as a C90 owner as well. Gives a little idea of what the bike is like.

AE86..... Thankyou very much for your help,,,, I think given our size and weight of us the innova is probably the more suitable model for us. Cheers Wuyang
