Anybody into vintage British iron?

These are a collectors item! I used to have an A series twin flywheel one. The one you have is a Lister D type. I collect the manuals for these. I sold my engine about a year ago now.

Like cubs they used to be worth silly money, and used to cost more in original condition than restored! You regularly see these at country shows. And it wasnt uncommon for people to have boiled eggs for lunch in the heated tank on top

Now though, they seem to be disappearing. Ebay used to be littered with them making good money, but when I sold mine they were few and far between and making very little money!

Lovely engines And they make a lovely sound! I always wanted a lister powered motobike

Yes they are a fun thing indeed, and beautifully made! Have seen them sat popping away at some vintage rallies before, often driving pumps and other implements!
We must be of similar minds, because i have wondered about one powering a motorbike before too!

Yes, I used to have a Lister D the same as this one, sold it a few years ago and now I've got a couple of Ruston stationary engines, but my 11 yr old son has been looking out for a Lister D for himself

No worries Neil, was great to meet you, and i'd love to see some pix once you've got her restored to perfection!! End of the day i wasn't going to get around to doing anything else with her, so needed a new loving home.....and cheers for that vital CB175 part, a true bonus!!!
