Black Douglas Sterling 125 - £6000

Post by Mat The Splat » Wed May 16, 2018 7:00 pm

I am selling my late fathers (stevew) Black Douglas Sterling. He had this bike hand made for him in Italy and received it two months before he passed away, unfortunately he never got to ride it.

This simple yet elegant looking Sterling is finished in in Olive drab with logo and a single pin striping in Pitch Black. The seat is upholstered in black Italian leather. The “Bullet” headlight, the mudguards, the frame, the springs, the silencer and the handlebars and grips are all finished in black, giving this Sterling a WW1 dispatch bike look.

It only has 148 miles on the clock, 80 of which were done by the factory themselves, the rest were done by me (riding to the hospice to show him).

It's a wonderful bike to ride and turns heads everywhere you go (you will never get lonely with this bike).

The bike is fitted with the 125cc version engine and has plenty of power to cruise at 50mph.

The bike is fitted with the Knobbly tire option and Polish army kit bags as panniers for the WW1 dispatch bike look, and has twin usb ports for that WW1 look??? oh well, not really period for the bike but handy for keeping your phone charged :)

Price is £6000 ono, cash on collection only.

As you say, a fantastic conversation piece. Ridden behind DD on his and seen him having to beat people off with a stick to get back to it when parked!

Lovely bike, wish I had the cash and the space.

I can only apologise for bringing this back up after so long. Do you mind if I ask if it sold in the end? It is the only one that shows up when searching for Black Douglas bikes available for sale.

I believe it did.

Many of us are still in touch with Mat, but as he splits his time between the UK and Thailand he's not always around to ask.

As you'll gather from the posts above, this was one of two Black Douglas Sterlings owned by c90 club members. The other was owned by Diesel Dave but has now also been sold.

Ah right, a shame to hear - but I appreciate the update. Thank you.
