1975 C90
Can anyone help how do you remove the nut to remove the front damper ive took the pin out but how do you stop the shaft turning

it is not obvious, but there is a small flat on the tip of the rod above the screw thread - you can try and get a small pair of pliers on there to stop it rotating.
These mini mole grips are very handy for this type of job
... but tbh is the nut is very rusty it is a right pain even if when the rod is held in place, and you might have to split the nut. It is a bit of a crap design unfortunately.

Iv'e endend up using a Dremmel and a couple of grinding bits to split the nut then a tap with a chisel to open it up more.
As mentioned the flats have usually rotted away into something resembling a stalagmite.
Not a great design the later 8 mm bolt version was a vast improvement.
