IS IT NOT THE CUB90 ENGINE, :) The pos first one, (change over bike) so if its got 6v (like ss50) electrickery it will convert to 12v, pos might have to change the crank, pos fit cdi conversion, bigger flywheel cover aswell, loom change over.. :) so much fun :) picking her up on tuesday, ( i fitted a cub90 crank to a ss50) ss90

I'm still confused, what are you calling the 'cub90' engine? The 89cc 6 v or the 85cc 12v? I have one of the changeover bikes in 50cc, the electrics are already 12v and it will take a 85cc engine straight in. It's a 1984 model.

If what you have is a 89cc 6 volter it's quite a big deal to put the later 85cc 12v lump in it as the mountings are totally different.

I don't know of anyone who has converted an 89cc lump to run 12v, and even the very determined, who talked about assembling a custom crank with the taper for the 12v rotor gave up in defeat.

I'm confused, but I hope you aren't, and that you have the bike you thought you had! Good Luck! :D :D :D

It says in the listing, 89cc. But you say it's 12v?
I can't say I've ever heard of a 12v 89cc bike. :?
It is a beaut isn't it? I bet the CC is wrong on the logbook, have seen a few 12V ones showing 89cc! Dealer's fault at first registration no doubt....

Just out of interest had a look here at the logbooks, and most of them are wrong! CD175 showing 175 instead of 174, CD90 showing 90 instead of 89, a C50 showing 50, 200 Benly showing 198 instead of 194....

will have a look tuesday, but from the pics,it has the c50/c70 engine in her, not the c90zz one, :) :)
if it is the later engine she should convert no probs,
i will post some pics of a cub90 crank i turned the taper down for a chap (sidways carl) NACC.
who fitted it into his ss50 as to retain the slimer side cover with 12v cdi conversion stator plate,
sitting in a hotel room at the mo,so havent got my pics on my laptop. :D
picking bike up on my way back home tuesday.

Ah yes, C90C, like the C70C. 1983 was the change over year, Honda still had the round headlamp setup to shift (did have the enclosed tank though) but installed the then new 12 volt engine :geek:
From 1984 onward the new square headlamp bike came along and the days of the round headlamp bike were over, for the UK that is.

The best photo (ebay) is the 4th one, you can see the oil filler is about 1/2 way up the side casing, the 6 volt 89cc had the filler right at the top. ;)

i tend to look 4 the zz large clutch cover or that distinctive genni cover, :)
but did they do a c90 6v with the cub engine, i know about the earley c50/70 based on the cub engine, but were all c90 12v (cub change over models) i think most of the peeps on here say 85cc 12v 89cc 6v but ive always called them cub engines, sorry  or zz engines
