Originally bought to ride the North Coast 500 (which it completed without issue – total 1500 miles from Bolton!)
I rebuilt it prior to the trip and fitted it with a brand new Lifan 110cc 4 speed engine, uprated shocks, pannier rear and front racks, Rickman top box, new chain case, new seat, centre stand, footrests with side stand, plus loads of other stuff along with all the consumables it needed. Wheels were re-spoked too. The Lifan motor is a straight fit, wiring is colour to colour so powers the lights and charges the battery. Benefit is it has a 4-speed gearbox which gives it an easier time on the hills without the gaping void between second and third on the 90cc engine.
Frame is absolutely solid, no rot at all. The rear end has been stripped and treated so will last for years. The plastic rear mudguard is hiding nothing!!
Since the trip it has also been to the Manx GP (classic TT) plus many trips over the North Yorkshire Moors and Cumbria and has never let me down.
This year I fitted a new Tagasako chrome rim and spokes to the original rear hub plus a new chain and sprocket kit. I replaced the first ‘race’ exhaust with a stainless steel one. I also set the valve clearances and gave it a general tidy up.
Comes with the original tool kit, handbook etc.
Included in the sale is the original C90 engine, exhaust and a myriad of other spares.
If it doesn’t sell, I will put the original engine back in, and return it to standard spec and sell it like that as it may appeal to more people who prefer an un-modified example.
So, if you are looking for a cub to just jump on and ride you won’t find a better one. It will take you anywhere and starts first kick.
I am far from desperate to sell, could just do with freeing up some space. Sounds like a cliché but I will probably regret it.
Just put 12 months MOT on it as I was considering another trip to the Isle of Man but went on my GPz instead – bit of a power difference!!
