This will be an excellent buy if your VV was anything to go by.

Thanks for your kind words marv.
Just had a week off work and started looking / thinking.
Anniversary off massive life changing KH 250 related road traffic accident and I'm 60 this year.
Always loved my Suzuki drz400 sm but it came without a seat!
So something like a drz, big seat height and pot hole friendly.

A KTM 390 adventure?
You know me from VV days I tell it as it is

I like the KTM (especially the small CC models) but feel they are built down to a price and the expression Keep Taking Money was born out by a buddy who bought a big engined adventure and constant build issues

Valve clearance check every service as i recall

I too have concerns I've watched lots of videos and tried to collect every bit of knowledge I can. KTM is now 50% Indian and we have seen how the new royal Enfield bikes have shocked bikeing world up.
Must be number 3 in sales chart this year. ktm won a moto gp race and add podiums.
I saw a oil change on the 390 unit and it had 3 filters! But Tbf all very reasonably priced.
If Honda and others were to fit proper seats on there adventure/ trail bikes I'm sure people would buy more.
Also in frame Yamaha scr 950... 3 grand off list and air cooled and belt drive!
