Replacing Gaskets - How To?
Hello All,
I am buying the complete gasket set from shirebikes to replace all of mine on the ST70, from pulling apart the engine I can see thr gaskets are almost stuck down, am I right? And if so what do you use to stick the gaskets down?
Sorry probably an simple question but I am new to this and learning as I go.
Thanks for the help all.

They are not stuck down , a light smear of grease my keep them in place as you assemble the engine .

What wightegi said. Avoid using gasket sealer, it’ll end up in all the wrong places inside the motor. It has a nasty habit of blocking small oilways in time.

Brought back memories of a mis spent youth when I garmed everything in sight with Red Hermetite with my fingers.

Ordinary LM grease will be fine. Only need a very small smear. I put it on the outside face on the clutch and alternator covers, they come off so much easier later without ripping the gasket.

You can buy gasket spray to help remove the old gaskets.
It's a bit hit and mis with that stuff. Depending how hard the paper has got. Peel as much off as you can then try the spray... or use a Stanley blade at correct angle works well.

My own experience is NOT recommended but faced with leaks of oil from Asian imported gaskets 2 total engine strip down's and another session rubbing the mating surface flat l finally cracked and bought sheets of flexoid and a tube of araldite made the gaskets up then scraping the araldite off to a very fine film put it back together and waited a couple more days to cure, stopped all leaks but l would not recommended this unless your desperate and end of your patience
