not monkey or mini , its DAX and Chaly time (wheel bolts)

Post by alan b » Sun Jul 26, 2020 4:35 pm

lost yer nutz?

DAX / CHALY

if you misplace the nuts that hold your wheels to your hubs you are going to struggle getting replacements , unlike conventional 8mm nuts those have a 14mm spanner head , and sit in the recessed section of your hub , normal 13mm headed ones will fut , but they can turn and chew up your hub

shires bikes sell sets of 4 in galvanised at £5 + postage + vat , this is £15.80 delivered (uk) for 8

oo racing sell a bolt kit , 4 x stainless bolts 20mm long (to short!!!) flat and spring washers , at £5 per wheel , so again that is almost £14 delivered for 8 bolts

what I have here , is correct 14mm head STAINLESS steel nuts and 8mm socket capscrews and flat/spring wahers on STAINLESS steel

comes as a set of 8 (one full bike) and delivered to your door UK ONLY for £14

sorry can only do UK only at this point

They are not suitable for suspension on bikes cars or anyhthing , do not buy them. the genuine Honda ones are available and far better.

I do not intend to use them for suspension on cars or bikes - only for the purpose stated.

Jim

If I were you I would stay with the OEM fittings bud, because the engineers at Honda spend a lot of time & effort calculating the correct material for any given fixing also the tensile strength, sheer strength etc of said material/s. They also factor in such things as Galling which is quite a pronounced problem when using a stainless nut & bolt combination, then there is the question of bimetallic reation between the stainless steel nut & the cast aluminium hub.

Some further reading ....

If you have trouble getting OEM fixings then Stainless steel bolts & bright zinc plated nuts would ( to my mind) be a good compromise.

He means that the parts offered are not fit for purpose, and may actually be dangerous.

Bern explains why in his post above.

If this thread disappears soon it's because we've decided to move it off the main forum.

Wightegi, Bern, Capitano, thanks for your respective inputs, I’ve always used OEM parts on all my bikes whenever they have been available - and intend to carry on doing so with all my current bikes.

Capitano, I’m very concerned about moving my thread, why should this be? I’m not aware of any violations on my part and it appears to have been well visited by others, its always the first place I look for any relevant info regarding my project.

Maybe I just don’t fit in with others ideas, or yours for the c90 club? Possibly because I don’t have a C90 or Cub YET!

Very, very sad indeed.....
ATB Bern, hope to see you sometime if I’m not chucked off.
