z50a k1 wiring/battery

I just bought another z50a k1 its the us version with a battery . the wiring loom is shot , I looked at shirebikes and repo ones selling for £60.
Can I run the bike with out a battery when new loom purchased?

My old Z50K1 fitted with a ST70 engine taken out to 88cc ran with a cut down ST70 loom, but 6V C50/70 loom could be used if you want.Battery was a bigger 6v type in a modded stock battery carrier.
Another one i build had only 1' of wire on the bike,black from engine to coil,no battery.

I have a 3 wire stator , black ,yellow.green so to run it up on basic wiring, black to coil, green for earth and yellow is for lights?

Black wire from stator connected to coil then earthed it out , its a runner.
