Silly Questions

Evening guys, I've a wee Monkey bike project that I bought a few years back and am just starting to have play with. I am however completely clueless when it comes to the Monkey world and need to ask lots of silly questions. I haven't found a decent forum and Facebook pages are... well the usual  Is there any where I can do some reading up on folks projects etc? Is there a decent place for parts schematics, wiring diagrams etc?
My project is a Jincheng copy of a Z50R but I'm hoping to put it together as a more normal Monkey. I've the main parts but lots to buy...
If you guys are happy answering some silly questions could you begin with shocks? Is 280mm the standard size?
The bike will eventually be for my son when he's old enough but I'm hoping to have some fun with it myself first.... purely to bed it all in and sort it out for him

And another silly question. My project came with a telescopic fork set and disc brake, very similar to this one https://ooracing.com/forks-stock-26mm-o ... onkey.html
Will these fit 8 inch wheels? The caliper does fit within the rim (just) but I've now got a disc on the hub and there doesn't look to be enough room to get the caliper over the disc.... I don't fancy scratching the freshly powdercoated rims if it's all in vain!

Hi.
Them forks should fit the 8" wheels as that's what your bike has/should have from new.
The caliper should fit but some need a bit of filing to make them fit, have you got the rims on right as there are two sizes and need to be on the right way around.
Facebook's ok for day to day stuff but crap for build threads, that's why forums are better for that.
Start a build thread on here and keep adding to it. I must start a few for the bike's i have built in the past.
A tip with the powder coated rims is to have the lip on the hub turned down/off,had to do this on some of my monkey and Dax wheel hubs as the rims wont fit over the lip with the coating on.
