Few people have asked about the wheels on the ST and CF so thought i would put this bit together.
Some of the 3 and 4 spoke wheels i have for some of the bikes i'm building.

4 spoke wheels.
4 spoke front.
The 4 spoke was used on the ST50/70 in both 6v and 12v and the CF50/70 only in 6v.
Brake side, note the plate is on the left side and has screw on speedo cable.

3 spoke.

This was only used on the 12v CF50/70.
Front.
Note plate is on the left side.

Rims.
4 spoke.
These have 4 smaller 6mm holes and 4 8mm holes.
Image
There is only one bolt hole between the spoke webs.
Image

3 spoke.
These have 6 6mm holes and 3 8mm holes.
Image
There are two 6mm holes between the spoke webs.
Image

Hub nuts and bolts.
The bolts are stock 8mm type but the nuts are a larger size than a stock 8mm nut.
Best to save the old nuts and have them replated.
Small size nut over the larger type.
Image

Smaller stock nut in the larger hole that the hub nuts fits in.

Hi Steve,

Great info - I see you've tidied the garage  Am I right in thinking the 12v 3 spoke runs the same brake plate as a Cub or a CG?

I may have a set of 4-spoke type standard ST70 steels for you if you need 'em as I've been having a clear out. I'll confirm later if it's 2 complete wheels. I've also been onto Minibike Craze this afternoon and ordered another Kepspeed front wheel as my modified Chaly mudguard is just fouling the tyre on the GT Dax but its too much of a risk should the tyre expand at road speed. Dropping from a 3.50 to a slender 2.75 (which was near enough my standard test wheel) gives plenty of clearance with the 110/80/10 Zippy 1 and will probably keep the front end sharper in corners. MBC are working from home now and I'm going over to collect it next week.

BTW, this is my first [test] post. I ought to introduce myself formerly but I'll not bog down the thread any more.

Me tidy the garage, any flat place is a shelf in there.
As for the brake plates the rear 4 spoke will use the early 12v cub but the fronts are on the left hand side and not the right as a cub and have different gearing in them.

Hi, I know this is an old thread but I’m just about to purchase a 1984 3 spoke cf50
According to your data it will be a 12v
Am I correct ?

Hi Coddex.
Yes should be 12v also should have a square headlight and the front rack. Mudguards should also be plastic and the seat is a different shape to the 6v one and it should have a seat lock on the back.

Add to that the rear brake is on the bars and works with a cable as there is no rear brake peddle. To tell if the frame is a 12v or 6v one just look where the rear brake switch would fit as the 6v has a bracket and the 12v this is missing. Having to have one fitted to my frame as going to be running a manual engine and need the bars free for the clutch lever, but converting the rear brake one to the clutch one.
