Hi all, (or those interested), Today I’ve managed to fit the new centre stand/prop stand to my ST70 + two new tappet covers - the top one was a sod to release but managed with stilson wrench to free the damned thing.

I upturned the bike resting it on two 50mm thick 8’x 2’ sheets of blue foam placed size by side, - the really solid stuff, I now have the original prop stand/footrest bar spare if anyone needs it PM me..... Yet to fit are the Decals, blue headlamp shell, mph speedo and modify the 6v indicators to LEDs with a complete kit supplied by Classic Car LEDs Ltd who have been very helpful.

One very strange thing happened, when the bike was up-turned a sizeable amount of oil poured out from the petrol tank area? Before starting the job I turned off the petrol tank vent, the carb fuel cock, and drained the carb, believing that oil should be securely contained within the engine I’m mystified as to how the oil leak occurred and from where it came?

Oil would have come out the engine breather on top of the engine at the back.

During the last week I’ve fitted the LED indicator bulbs and replaced the flasher with LED compatible unit, quite a simple job with a marvellous result giving the required 78 flashes per minute. Also applied Decals where necessary, replaced speedo with new MPH readout job, now have to find out why taillight doesn’t light with engine running but pulses when Indicators are used, new rocking gear lever fitted together with new rear carrier frame.

Did you fit an LED bulb in the tail light ? if so you are mixing AC and DC ,disconnect the feed to the bulb and take a new one from a black wire.

Whitehi No I haven’t changed the tail light bulb - leaving it as it is.

Capitano, Yes I’ve sort of been busy, and the job’s nearing satisfaction, it’s a lovely little bike that I hope will give me much pleasure, I’m a long way from the south coast but would like to join any C90 club runs that cross my area - because it only holds 1/2 gallon of fuel, although I’m taking steps to add to this without defacing the bike in any way.

Not a lot of people know this - or do they?
Like many folk my bike (ST70) has been rebuilt using mostly new parts put into/onto the original frame - and like me found that the frame had been re-painted/powder coated and in the process all original detail on the frame has been lost. Most of these are commonly available Decals - but the most difficult one is that which was on the Head Tube adjacent to the head races which originally contained the Chassis Type, Mfg Date and Vin No.

Again on the web I found this guy who specialises in reproducing this label complete with YOUR BIKE DETAILS, the label is not particularly cheap - but then only ONE is needed which can be obtained from:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/jrure?ul_ref ... noapp=true

Having found this I’ve ordered said label for my bike - sending all the information required on the ‘Contact Me’ drop-down slip of the ad together with the ads requested payment (this is important). Within 24hrs an email reply came saying ‘Got It’ and the job is proceeding. I couldn’t wish for better response!

My upswept exhaust pipe has a main hanging bracket which has been previously braised in place, although the exhaust’s noise is not loud I’ve ordered a new OEM replacement pipe, costly but the bike will be better for it.
As the country goes from rain to the current excessive heat I find it too much to be able to work in the garage preferring to shelter indoors while the temps last although still eager to complete the little jobs on the bike..... Really looking forward to being able to go for a run on it - and potentially attend the local Friday Bike Night event 15 miles away.
