Is the log book for the bike Frame numbers match, and was 1979 the year it was imported ?
early frame number coulb be ST70-12 - - - and 1979 would be nearer ST70-6 --
Hi all, Wightegi, The year of declared manufacture is 1979 although the year of DVLA Registration was 1983, the Vin is 6123477 with eng. no. 6123640 from the logbook, it has a mileage of 6963 but has a Km/h speedo which I’m planning to change to an mph one when it arrives, I need a few decals that will arrive shortly too. It appears that the previous but one owner carried out a complete ‘nut & bolt’ re-build including the frame, seat, etc. it’s really good and was quite ‘by luck’ that I got it as a substitute for my Sunbeam S8 which I sold a few weeks ago. I’ve got to re-paint the headlamp as it looks like a replacement but that will be done when I fit the new speedo in due course. The battery is a SLA 6v 2amp job having a Maplin marking which I’ve taken off to bench charge on my multi voltage flight charger.
Then, given good weather a road run to check out the motor is ok.

Jim
Correction, the battery is marked L21AC which shows it to be a 6v 4.5ah unit, I’ve just had it on charge overnight and it’s showing that 5000 milliamps (5 amps) has been put in, although when put on charge it showed 7.5v it was apparently quite discharged but now with 5amps aboard the Indicators should work well.

Unfortunately Jim, they are a valid, legal service and aren't doing anything wrong.

They have a very visible disclaimer on their front page that states where their charges apply and that SORN is a free service supplied by DVLA.

Notwithstanding the fact that they are a parasitic service like checkatrade, mybuilder, trustatrader etc. and like those sites there is no valid reason for their existence and most decent folks wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire.

But, as said, completely legal and above board. :(

Thanks Capitano, Ah well -a looser again - or was it over enthusiasm? It’s taxed now so that SORN WAS A WASTE OF MONEY!

I mentioned my Trangia fuel bottle, I don’t particularly want to splash petrol all over my bike and this bottle is great for slow and steady filling, and light enough to carry on my person or in a top box.

Just heard this morning that the new Honda ST125 will be out in September, the price will be £3999, The Honda RRP is £3899 so maybe the extra is for OTR.
Do I want one?...........

My ST70 has a approx 1/2 gallon fuel tank, I’m wondering what mileage this would give me? I’m thinking about 60 miles? Any obs please.
