suzuki 125 van van

Post by krazy kev » Fri Apr 27, 2012 4:48 pm

i just found a lovely little bike on ebay. its an original 70's Suzuki RV125. I have not seen one for a very long time - at least 30 years. i knew a bloke who had one and back in those days they were not that common as most riders went for the TS (My father had a 1973 TS125)

I didn't know they even sold those here.
I know a lad with the current version.. 125 4-stroke.. More conventional styling but still with the balloony tyres. I'm personally not so keen on the handling feel on tarmac but maybe you get used to it.. I only rode it a mile or so after doing some fettling. (and maybe the tyre pressure were out - it had been standing a while)

I see them everywhere, as they popular with tall and short riders.

That the older shape and don't look too bad.

Little over priced.

I see one or two knocking around. Must admit, on seeing one I always think .......' hmmmmm, no thank you'!
It's something I don't see an appropriate application for ....... and to me they look daft!

i have to say i like it, its quirky... I've always liked quirky. shame old suzi's can be a pain to source spares from and not much can be changed between the 90 and 125 version

Aye they sure did, the Suzuki dealer in York still has one of their own originals in the showroom from time to time, think it's M reg :) Think the engine is just the same as the early TS125..

The only time i have ever owned a brand new vehicle was this little chap in 2007, saw one, wanted one, got one....and it was a lovely bike in every way...the first of the fuel injected ones too :) We parted company in 2009 because of messy personal circumstances, otherwise i'd still have it ;) I was skinny 5 years ago wasn't i?

Modern bike, but tried and tested old engine....GS125, GN125....probably quite a few others too ;)

low to ground and long seat meant short and tall people could ride them comfortably.

They look fun :)

Yamaha do a similar bike.
