SteveST100 has a 500 single, and he's got bad knees now. And that as a decompressor on the bugger, and you could never bump it
Re: Honda CB250RS kickstarting difficulties
As others have said , drain the carb for a few seconds, maybe a new plug ?
Ive had 6 of these & they were all great bikes, one had 58,000 mies on it .
I had an FT500 brand new & it was a pile of poo.
Sr500, Xt500s, all good.
I have an XBR500 & XT500 at the mo,

Bumping them's a piece of piss...You just roll 'em down a hill in gear with the decompressor lever pulled and simply release the lever when it's rolling...No fuss, no drama no lock-ups, it just starts running!...After a day of falling off my 350 Husky and restarting a red hot single after it had been drowned in a peat bog and inverted this technique was the only thing that kept me ridingzippy wrote:SteveST100 has a 500 single, and he's got bad knees now. Re: Honda CB250RS kickstarting difficulties
If you want to learn how to kick start something I have a 400cc diesel motor in the Enfield with 18:1 compression - no electric starter.
I did fit a 21:1 piston but that defeated me so I had to go back to the low comp.

ooh...Fun! i had a 4KV diesel generator recently...a Lister single...you had to prime it with light oil in a plunger thing at the top then wind it ferociously until you flicked the decomp lever over. Once hot, it could just boil a kettle!...Can't imagine what that 21:I would be like!Diesel Dave wrote:If you want to learn how to kick start something I have a 400cc diesel motor in the Enfield with 18:1 compression - no electric starter.
