st70

Post by ldtopham » Thu Mar 15, 2012 11:38 pm

Is there a good reason not to own one of these? We do a fair bit of camping and I fancy taking one along with us to do a little sight seeing on the odd evening.
I quite like the look of them even if they do appear to look a bit of a phallic symbol  Got me eye on one and am soooo tempted.

I fancied a little Z50 for the kids but the boss has said a firm NO to that one. That's how I noticed the st70's. I'm looking at a 1977-1978 model....maybe. Damn this big garage, it's costing me a fortune in little Hondas

Prefer the chaly to the dax, but they are both great wee bikes, i would do scary things for a good cheap chaly CF70. you can get cheap chinese clones of the dax, seen a few on gumtree ebay etc. if its just for the camping trips might be viable, i had to settle for a bloody nc50 moped :( i can chuck it in me mates camper and potter about i guess, once i fix it up.

I looked at a Chaly when I went to but the L-AG for my mate. The seller had both a Chaly and a monkey bike. I wasn't too keen on the look of the Chaly but had the upmost respect for his mother who was still riding the bike nearing 70 years of age

Looks like I may have just bought one.....if I can sort transport out as it's way 'darn sarf' ;)

shame his old dear won't flog the chaly. well done on finding the dax though. surely you can manage to get her "up north" at a decent price. is it the 50 or 70 version you got?

It's an st70, 1977 model.....which was a great year 8-)
Shiply want £65 from just above London to West Yorkshire. Doesn't seem too bad as it's just short of 400ml round trip. I'm away next week so can't pick up myself. If anyone knows of a bike transportation type firm that are reasonable, please post up the details.

I know of a ST50 engine if you need one. It is a 6 volt version. I was going to convert it to 12 volt and put it in heinz but too much is involved

Kev, I've got 6V engines coming out my ears! Cheers anyway. The 70 lump that is in the st is sweet....it's loads of fun to ride!
