I have three CB500 my own personal bike is a Modified CB500r and I have 2 later ones one an 02 plate is the Workshop loan bike and the other we have been doing up for sale

I find the CB500 a real hoot I on my second the first was stolen at 96k !
I often ride with much bigger and faster bikes and it copes Ok even standing up to a 600 mile weekend with a very fast group being bounced off the rev-limiter most of the time ! Well the next smallest bike was a choice of two (same engine ) fazer 1000 and an R1 everything else was 1100cc or bigger

Except for that type of ride I get high 50's low 60 to the gallon more on along run ( I taken one to Co Cork to see friends several times ) 500 miles in a day

If you can get to south London you welcome to ride one either mine or the Loan bike (the other isn't taxed) as long as you got a licence for more than 2 years and not been too naughty I have any rider insurance

,,I got mine when I spotted what I thought was a Norton or some-such parked at the side of the road with two blokes looking sorry for themselves at 2am in Elland. I was on my way home from Hebden on a KH 250 and stopped to help, (as was the way back in the '70's ;) ) first time I had really noticed 'em, we couldn't get it going, so as my garage was a couple of minutes up the road, we shoved it there, then lent them my kwack to get home on.
Poking around at it the following day, I got it running, (fried ignition coil, replaced with a K4 250 number I had kicking around) ,,and quite liked it,,,when the lads turned up later that day, they offered to do a deal for the kwack, which I did, and didn't regret it,,,lovely bike, none of the bother you quote ll, gas flowed the head, tidied it up, (painted it black CK  ) ,,and had it for a few years with no bother,,,my experience of 'em anyways,,,

1994 it is a CB500R (look under seat there should be a model code and paint code on a white sticker !
You should do well mine is later the bike only done 35k but the engine is close to 100k (sad story)
I been out and about on mine today 150 miles with a group of experienced fast riders and yet again it has coped ok did bounce it off the rev-limiter a few times in the first 3 gears and it got and smelt hot after one continuous run of 30 miles at rather more than the national limit !

The early Front brake need careful watching as the nisen calliper is prone to sizing but if it a pain fit the later Brembo unit (gold in colour )

Enjoy you should like it I have now done well over 100k on mine

Feel free to pm / email me if you have questions

took it out for a run today not to far not rode abig bike for 2 years only the cubs and t80s went well till i got to the first rounderbout and i forgot to pull the clutch in,did a bunny hop around the rounderbout after that i forgot to use the clutch when changeing gear, getting there tho dont like the mirrors there on the fairing ,set to far forward ,
in a monthes time i will be singing its praises i exspect
comeing from acub to a 500 with gears is a shock ,but not as bad as the lads who ride a old english bike with the gears and brake on the wrong side.
not so keen on the rideing posision may have to raise the bars atab all in i think its ok
