Re: Cheap honda 125?
If you want it to do a test on be sure the bike you buy is on the DSA approved list otherwise you will only get an A1 licence for bikes up to 125 not the 33 bhp restricted class A licence
I understand some if not all CG125's are not powerful / fast enough to make the list as I suspect are lots of older 125's

Re: Cheap honda 125?
lol if ya was closer to me zippy i would flog you my Yamaha SR125 its on the list, will have a new ticket on her, and id be asking £550-600 and its had repaint, new sprockets, completely rebuilt brakes, new seat cover, rewired front to back and a new speedo fitted. so ya could use it for 3 month, and flog it for the same money as I'm asking. and i know it will do 65+ all day long. i bought it for me niece but she has decided she don't wanna do bike now, she wants a car. and i find it to boring compared to what I'm used to. competent, sure, boring... yeah.

Re: Cheap honda 125?
problem is zippy, i know up here if ya look on gumtree or ebay ANYTHING 125 with a MOT be it 10, 15 or 20+yrs old is making £600 minimum with a japanese or euro badge, even if it looks like a shed on wheels. as its that time of year people want a 125 to do test on then sell on and big bike by summer, i know for a fact i can buy a 500 - 650cc bike on the road for less cash than a similar aged 125 on the road is making. why not just do direct access on the bike schools bike, and pick up a 250 or suchlike after? old 250's go for peanuts compared to a 125. a old superdream say can be had for £300+ with a test, a CB125 of same age... £500+ CG goes for more cos like the cub there getting a following. even though the CB is a quicker bike. and i guess prices down south aint gonna be any cheaper, in fact probably worse.

Re: Cheap honda 125?
basically bike hire for the day is a rip off. £40+
wanted to avoid lessons as you end up on a YBR which are such a bad riding position and gearing.
I'll look into doing a week course thing more, but when leibo finished with disc gonna brush up on the motorcycle parts of highway code, and get theory sorted.

Re: Cheap honda 125?
the lessons seem to be no different in price on the 125 or 500.
So 1st try guideline was £699 for 22hrs + mod 1/2 on a 500cc
Now that place I know that one of the guyz which I would pick, is very experienced and teaches well with a toned down military style
