Good advice! Mines a 1993 K reg with the top tank as well as the main tank. The previous owner said that they only did 90 miles and then filled up again ( that's roughly the same as for a C90 isn't it?) because they didn't trust the reserve solenoid! I can hear it click when the switch is used, but rather than chance it and end up crying on the hard shoulder, I will carry some spare fuel as you and Jim advise. Having said that, running out of petrol seems to be a Virago right of passage😀. Perhaps a fuel gauge would have been a good idea?

I'd like to say that I barely remember mine, a 1989 one bought brand new.

But I do remember it well. In reality it was great fun, and I rode it absolutely everywhere for a year as I didn't have a car of my own.

The Harley Davidsons that followed it for the next 18 years were better ... at being Harley Davidsons. :?

Pretty sure mine had Bridgestones on from new.

I expect compounds, patterns etc will have changed, though maybe not dramatically. I don't recall a single concern, incident nor complaint about the tyres.

Bogger you've just reminded me of wearing short trousers as a child and having "chapped" legs in very cold weather.
