Does anyone know if anyone sells imported c90 copies?

A quick google brings up riders of Yeovil but I think they're not in business anymore. Alternatively has anyone had any luck buying one direct from alibaba?

Various companies imported copies in limited numbers to get around the type approval regs. So there are none out there now.

That's a shame. Does anyone know of an affordable alternative to a c90 that's not a scooter. I'm looking for the 4 speed semi auto gearbox.

Suzuki address, honda wave and honda innovas are also looking expensive these days...

You're probably 5- 7 years too late.

Riders of Yeovil sold up, and others dropped their Cub/Wave/Innova clones completely well before Euro 5 hit and completely nailed the coffin shut.

Your cheapest option is probably to source a used Peugeot Vox, Keeway Partner, or the Loncin, or Baotian versions of the same. All had the 4 speed 110 Lifan or Loncin motor with a semi auto gearbox.

They aren't a C90 Cub, though. If you can live with that, that's fine.

I was hoping to find something sub 1k but I might have to settle for spending 1.6k ish on a innova/wave or 2k on an imported c90.

As Capitano says. It was the regulation changes at the start of 2017 that stopped them being imported as they didn't have linked brakes or fuel injection.

Made by the Chongqing Guanjou Motorcycle Manufacturing Co under the name Kayak Kaiuno, either 50 or 110, several versions. Sold in the UK by Riders and also others under the name of Supercub, Zeths Cub and even Kayak. They do occasionally come up for sale through the usual outlets.

I know of one guy in Yorkshire who bought 8 from Minibike Craze when they shut and still allegedly has 7 unregistered!

They were very good for the money at the time, more torquey than a C90, still only 3 speed, first is so low as standard that it's only used on steep hills and apt to wheelie. Most Honda aftermarket mechanicals fit but the big difficulty can be the plastics which are not easy to find and are more brittle. I bought a Kaiuno in Sept 2016, one of the last imported, it was an alternative to buying another rusty C90 and was tested to (almost) destruction. Hope to have it on the road again soon, or the Riders Cub I seem to have sat next to it.

Economics 1.0.1: Supply and demand - more buyers chasing less bikes = higher prices

Economics 1.0.2: Inflation - 12V C90s can be up to 36 years old. The price of everything has gone up, so bikes more than 2 decades old that sold for under a grand are going to be more than they were new. £1000 bought a lot more in the late 80s, and early 90s.

Your CG125 can also probably be considered an appreciating asset.

Capitano, understood for C90s but for honda innovas/waves and peugot vox's that are not exactly classics the appreciation is hard to stomach. Equally 5 to 10 years of inflation isn't huge Perhaps I'm too used to thinking about how cars depreciate? Or is it the scarcity of the 4 speed semi auto, since they haven't been made after the vox and innova were discontinued.

Maybe I just need to accept that in 2022 you need to spend 1.5k to 3k to get a nice bike?
