just aquired a 2001 cg drum brakes , couple of questions can i fit a disc front end, any idea of these older ones top speed. last one i owned was some time ago .bought it new i think it did 70 ish on a flat road

Just read this properly - hasty edit. Yep, later forks would go straight on. Also bin the silencers for instant more speed (you have to cut them off). Then find a straight-thru slip-on for show. Could be an issue at MOT time though. Also Harley riders will look at you and then sneer. Don't ask me how I know.

Looks decent. The drum brakes are up to the job but I suppose it depends on your riding style. Took the forum consensus and fitted EBC grooved shoes. They work good.

Don't bother trying to fit the yokes from a later cg to a early model unless both models had steering locks on the frame headstock, as they won't fit a early model with the lock on the bottom yoke. Stem sizes are different. Most cg125 were 27mm stanchions. But I think earlier models may differ.

i will chech that allan thanks for the warning,any one know the size of a 2001 cg stem, cant get to mine untill next week,also where were the 2001 cg s made
