Quadro Qooder

A friend has had a bike licence for 70 years and has a history of buying bikes on a whim. In the 10 years I've known him he has only bought Hondas, DN01 (4 of them), NC750, SH300, Forza 750 (for 3 weeks - too heavy), Forza 350 which is apparently just right.

He had a 3 year old ex demo Qooder delivered yesterday and today was his first real ride. It's heavier than the Forza 750 and could do with a reverse function like the MP500Adv. In retrospect it wasn't a good idea to start off in the heavy traffic we get round here especially on Southend seafront today. Whether he gets to master the completely different riding style required remains to be seen, he was a bit wobbly in places, we'll see. :D

It looked very odd following around bends too.

It's a 400 single. Gets away from a standstill very well but he has got to get used to doing that from feet up. It's not like an MP3 where you lock the bike upright (although you can). It is possible to balance it at a standstill, you also need to counter steer a lot to make smooth progress. He's very clued up, still fit and was a bike trainer for many years for JJs in Essex.

If he can't get on with the weight it will probably be back to plan A which was to get the 500 MP3Adv which has reverse function. If I'd bought one when I was considering them he was going to get one as well.

Not sure where it's made TBH and neither is he. It's a Swiss company so can't see it being made there.

It's a 3 year old bike, possibly a demonstrator with 300 miles on it. He would have ordered a new one but apparently there is a long wait for new and at 87 soon wanted it for this summer! :D

Quality doesn't look bad to me apart from the mudguards which are carbon fibre effect wrapped which is becoming detached around the edges. It's lost an R from the stick on lettering on one side too.

We'll see.

He's an inspiration to us all. He got bored during lockdown and took up website development and digital art. :D
