Honda Vision 110 - Anlas Winter tyres

Post by Scootyman » Sun Sep 19, 2021 12:29 pm

Hello all,
Hope everyone is keeping well. It’s that time again in Scotland where we are starting to feel winter in the air. It’s still warm but it won’t be long so, it’s time to get prepared.

Image

My usual winter tyres that I use don’t seem to be so readily available this time around and whilst I’m currently rolling on Michelin Citygrip2 which claim to be M+S rated, I like to go for something more aggressive for the winter months. After some research I went for Anlas Winter grip 2. Apparently they are made in Turkey and well though of. I’ve gone for slightly oversize width tyres but kept the profile with what would be stock size to keep the speedo correct (haha).

They look similar to the IRC SN26 Snowmaster so if they perform as well I will be happy.

Anyone else kitting up for the winter commute ahead? Does anyone have any experience of Anlas tyres? If it’s any good I might be tempted to try the summer option too.

The spare set of wheels come in handy

Got to have a bit of rubber admiration on a Sunday. I don’t know what it is but I have always had a fascination with tyres. Maybe I missed my vocation in life. One things for sure, they certainly do work in the cold and wet better than a summer tyre. I don’t usually ride in full snow, more just very cold and wet weather but I have been caught at work when the roads have turned white for the ride home. An ‘interesting’ experience

Erm…what’s a Condor? I thought that was a premium brand of touring bicycle.

A Condor is a Seeley G50 engined road bike. Very rare and very very expensive.
Note, if it a wider tyre then as the height is a ratio of the width it will be taller than a standard tyre.

I just googled that and it looks very cool.

With regards to the height ratios of the tyres, the original front tyre was 80/90 & I fitted 90/80 so that should be the same. The rear original was 90/90 and I went for 100/80 so I estimate it’s about 1mm smaller. Saying that, it seems no two tyre brands are the same in size despite the sizing given and the Anlas came up a little smaller than the Michelin’s.
I did fit a 100/90-14 on the Vision with the City Grip2 and I have to say that since I lost a bit of weight, I like the higher gearing that tyre gave the scooter. It was quite noticeable too and led me to marking the wheels and rolling them down the drive to calculate the distance covered by each revolution of the wheel compared to the OEM tyres. Bit sad I know but it answered many questions why and confirmed what I already knew I guess. All good fun :geek:
