1983 Honda Melody De-Luxe

Post by Mo Gordon » Fri Mar 26, 2021 11:03 pm

Hi, I am restoring a 1983 Honda Melody and am in need of a couple of the resisters that sit under the the floor and are attached to the right hand outer bracket These are 6.5 ohm resisters. Does anyone know where I can get a pair or a suitable alternative?

Could you post a picture?

I suspect they would be older wirewound types, I have made replacements for old resistors with nichrome resistance wire wrapped around the original former.

Ideally you need to know the gauge of wire but it’s not vital as you can adjust the length of wire to give the required resistance.

However if appearance isn’t important....

The resistor needs to be the same or greater Wattage than the combined front and rear lamps so will need to be 30 watts or more.
If originality isn't important i would be inclined to put a later regulator off a C90 on it and be rid of it.
