Jim, part of getting old is rambling on subjects, people chopping up bikes has always happened, there are plenty of C90's that have been 'improved' in that way.

There are a couple of 750 automatic motors fitted into choppers I’ve seen on you tube.

I suppose it cleans up the bars without the need for a foot clutch and all the falling over that usually involves.

The gear selector could be servo operated by a couple of discrete buttons leaving the right footpeg clean too.

Looks better in the photo than in the flesh, but a bit of elbow grease won’t hurt.
bars feel like ape-hangers except at the wrong angle for the wrists.
Even Peter Fonda had his apes at the wrong angle!
Yup, I agree Cap'n, I Disagreed with the mighty Boo on this too. IMO chopper bars should ALWAYS follow the line of the forks, anything else is plain wrong!
There are 2 schools if purism on apes, Newt.

Yours is favoured by shorter riders. The other option is that when the bike is sat upon, the apes must be vertical.

Fonda's Captain America chop had neither of these options.

The only chop I ever built, a Tiger TR7 powered hardtail called, "Igor," had its apes mounted vertically.

8-)

Ape hangers correctly fitted in line with the forks makes you look cooool, vertical would just look silly.

Y'know when you find a set of carbs on Evilbay, and it seems too good to be true........

Well sh*t it probably is...

Of course someone could have experimented with black treacle for fuel?

WTF is THAT?

I've only ever seen that before when someone decided to use old engine oil in a 2 stroke premix!

Charming isn't it, the Virago carb's looked like that after standing idle for 14 years, it's a mould that grows from ethanol & a bitch to clean, best plan is to immerse in boiling water with a good amount of fairy liquid, keep agitating & change water regularly.
