Automatics n' stuff
It's been a while chaps, I'm not too fond of being locked down so I get a little blue at times.
So what's with the Automatics title to this thread?
Well some old injuries have resurfaced that mean the tendons in my right arm keep getting inflamed and this is getting in the way of clutch use - its been over a year now and gives no indication of going away. Also my left shoulder isn't what it used to be either and the 'off' i had in Switzerland a few years back hasn't helped.
Of course I can still ride my Modenas Kriss as this is semi-auto like the Cubs/Innova etc
So where does this leave the rest of the fleet?
Well I've started selling off the bikes I know I won't be able to use in the future, the red EFI Enfield Bullet that I converted to carb has been sold, as has the Himalayan and the Kubota diesel powered Enfield Bullet.
For the time being I'm going to hang on to my original Diesel Enfield as it would be hard to separate myself from that bike as we approach the quarter million miles marker - I may convert the primary drive to a Comet CVT so it becomes an automatic.
So what does the future hold, well it looks like automatic transmissions are going to feature large, not being a fan of hugely complex new bikes I'll steer clear of those fancy Honda DCT push button transmissions for now.
I've done the maxi-scooter thing before so I've gotten that out of my system.
This leaves me in the market for classic motorcycles that feature no-clutch transmissions:-
Honda CB400A Hondamatic
Honda CB750A Hondamatic
Moto Guzzi Convert (850-1000 Depending on year)
Not being one to let the grass grow under my feet.....I've already nabbed both a 400 and 750 Honda (although I have yet to collect them)
So if anyone gets a line on a Guzzi Convert for me to complete the set I would be very interested.

Glad to hear from you, also that you appear to be in a positive frame of mind with a plan or two.
Hope the 400 is as nice as your old one without the leaky carbs.
If you fancy building an auto trike then you can have the Smart.

Glad to see you posting, these are trying times.
I have left shoulder injuries as a result of me getting knocked off so along with my back riding isn't an option and a trike does seem the way forward but to lose the facilitating progress ability is a hurdle in my mind.
With your skills set you'd have a trike made in a week

You don't fancy an Aprilia Mana, then?
Also, someone with your skills and knowledge would surely be able to get a Rekluse semi auto clutch to fit whatever bike you wanted, I'm sure.

I hope you are wrong with the complexities of the DCT transmission, my 2016 NC750S so far has been a great relaxing bike to ride, very simple servicing and good fuel economy.

The thing you have to remember is that the DCT seen from your perspective is how it rides, and how it stays together.
From Dave's it's how it works and how it will end up modified after he's spilled its guts onto his garage floor.
