Good choice.
I ran a 2013 og msx from 2014 until this year.
Changed the drl to white, kepseed swingarm, kitaco shock, just sensible mods.
Only sold it as it was quite similar to the z125 which has a nicer seat.
What sort of cruising speed was it comfortable at. Now that mine is run in it will pull faster in 4th than 5th unless you've got a decent tailwind or downhill. It seems comfortable at an indicated 50 mph in top.
Yeah seamed happy around 50mph.
From what I've read the new 5th gear is almost the same ratio as the old 4th (top) gear, which we always felt over geared the bike, so for years we ran +1 rear sprockets which we felt made top more usable as it increased the rpm's,and last year we fitted minus 1 front sprockets which again changed the characteristics and we felt increased acceleration but robbed a little top speed.
I did intend to fit a TB high lift cam and have the ecu reflashed to increase the fueling but recently purchased a modified monkey.

Thank you. I was thinking about going up a tooth on the rear. It will be interesting to see when some decent aftermarket stuff appears for the new motor. :D

Well, my Grom has developed a gremlin. From start the revs will fast idle at around 1800rpm until operating temperature is reached. From cold this can be around 2 minutes, and when warm, around 2 seconds, then it settles down to 1100rpm. Now, instead of shutting down, it now goes up to around 3800rpm. When hot, a quick blip of the throttle shuts it down, but from a cold start it will "scream" for around a minute before it returns to 1100. Problem is it's intermittent, and no fault light comes on. Coincidentally it first did this at around 500 miles, and the problem was resolved at the first service. I'm at 1000 now, so another 500 and it's started again. Okay, the bike is under warranty, but it's a pain having to make the journey to the dealer, and walk, the bus it home. Especially in Europe's worst Covid area. We shall see how things develop.

It could be just a poorly routed throttle cable or damaged one.

No, it's something ECU/TPS related, and intermittent, which makes it all the more difficult.

Random observation but is there a valve/flap on the exhaust for euro 5 only BMW seem to be having issues with them sticking (either open/closed) but apparently fault not unique to Beemers

I don't know to be honest. It's off back to the dealer. After 40 years of building/reworking and repairing engines for a living, it looks like I shall be shortly undertaking a new learning curve. As this is the new model Grom, there's not enough out there for experience yet. All the simple hacks for resetting the old one don't apply.

Well, got it back. As suspected, TPS re-set. Dealer did a good and thorough job. Plenty of info online regarding resetting the TPS on the Euro 4 Grom, but nothing regarding the Euro 5 spec bike. I would imagine that once these start selling by the bucket load in the US of A, some men in baggy shorts will be along to tell us what to do. :D

No, there's nothing available info wise on what goes on with the new ECU etc and it would appear that there are more electronics to worry about, so I thought seeing as the warranty still has the best part of two years to go, best not to risk upsetting/damaging anything. Plus it's the first bike I've had where the handbook tells you about all the information they can download about use and so on, so I thought it was possibly not prudent to poke bridging wires into a plug on the advice of a man in his garage in Texas, on YouTube.
