I went for a quick look at the Royal Enfield Meteor this week and whilst I thought it was nice, I couldn’t get my head around the salesman’s complete lack of acknowledgement that it has a known fault with an engine management light coming on from new and that there didn’t seem much coming from RE HQ about a fix. He was more interested in a trade in price for my CBF1000 which got me thinking maybe I should play safe and get a new one of these CB125’s. It’s definitely a contender and fits the bill of a small motorcycle to replace the big one in considering moving on. I’ve always had a love for CB125 in fact anything Honda 125, so maybe I should have a ride on one of these first.

I had an RE Himalayan for a short while but ended up selling it on as it didn’t really have a whole lot of edge over my CBF125 (old style). I could run that up to 70mph and it would get me so much further on a tank of petrol.
I don’t have the CBF125 anymore but the Honda 125s are great little bikes

Most likely as he has a better market base for your Honda and good S/H bikes still at a premium and tough to source.

I collected my new white CB125F from Dobles on the 26th January.
First impressions are very good - I needed to put the gear lever up one spline but other than that it 'fits' very well.
It's extremly light, feels lighter than my Super cub and is very refined and smooth.
The handbook suggests avoid using hard accelaration or braking for the first 300 miles - I took it up to circa 40mph using the gears and varying the speed for the first 200 miles and have been gradually building speed up since then and the engine is beginning to loosen up nicely.

Yesterday at 360 miles I re-fuelled it for the first time, with 2 bars left on the guage I got 9.75 litres of E5 petrol into its 11 litre tank which, going by my calculations, shows it did 168 mpg whilst running in - it's certainly nice not having to fret about finding a petrol station at around 100 miles or so!

It feels faster at 50 than the Super cub does for some reason, whether its because it doesn't have a screen fitted as yet or that the Super cubs speedo is a tad optamistic I don't know.

Battery access is a dream compared to the two cubs but I do miss the cubs rotating gearbox - what a splendid idea that was.

It's nice having 3 bikes that are all easy to push around in the garage and I will be splitting my rides between them, as for accesories I've ordered a rack from Givi, and a padded seat cover from e-bay, (whilst the CB125F's saddle is nice and long compared tp the other 2 it isn't particually comfy) and have fitted a handlebar socket - not sure whether a screen will be added as yet.

Spannerman is getting around a fair bit on his. 8-)

The prices in India have to be weighted against the average monthly salary.

In the UK it is over 6 x higher (6.34 x last time I looked.)

So the average Indian Honda 125 buyer would be paying the equivalent of £4596 for last year's model.

6 week update - Oil change and check-over completed at 21st Moto (Swanley) at 638 miles.
Today, at 900 miles on the clock, the bike is loosening up nicely now, pulling well through the gears and smoothing out more and more as the miles clock up, not needed to adjust the chain or anything else for that matter.
Fuel consumption has increased slightly from when it was running in, a brim-to-brim fill up worked out to 174 mpg against the bikes economy gauge which indicated averaging 43.2 miles per litre (196mpg) - but I'm not complaining.
Speed wise it gets to an indicated 64mph in a reasonable time, this is without a screen fitted, first gear is very low, on flat or downhill I find it easier to pull off in 2nd gear, I can comfortably get it into top gear (5th) at 25-30mph and it pulls from as low as 22mph in 5th without complaining.
Brakes are very strong, the rear drum being very effective and, as Dave mentioned in a previous post, it has ABS on both back and front brakes for safety. I don't tend to ride at night so I can't give you ant information on the headlight but it is LED, along with the back light and the front indicators are illuminated as 'day' lights.
All in all its better than I expected and still improving as the miles increase, IMO a superb value for money bike, particually as the fuel costs seem to increase on a daily basis.
