The service light has now come on the CB125F (2021) bike at 4200 miles, so Saturday I will be changing the oil and easy access external oil filter. Bike chain has not needed any adjusting, I picked up a flint in the rear tyre a few weeks ago and repaired it with a repair kit while the tubeless tyre was still on the bike.
I would not bother getting a test ride on a new bike, the engine requires about 2000 miles on it before it has a sweet spot and loosens up fully, so a demo bike would disappoint on a short ride.
The LED headlight is good at night and I think it has one of the best informative dashes on a small 125, speed digits and clock numbers are big and clear to read.
Now for MPG figures, I get 210 and that equates to 550+ mile range.
Happy days, very few trips to the garage, a punchy engine eager to climb hills in top gear, a tractable bike able to stay in top gear at 15mph and onwards to 60mph.

Thanks for the summary, you're making this decision easier for me - it's between CB125F or a Meteor 350 really

That made me smile.
When I bought my BMW the sales guy was most surprised when I turned down a long test ride. I'd done my homework beforehand and heard that they took a few thousand to bed in properly. When I picked it up it ran very rough and I initially thought I'd bought the wrong bike, it was a few months before I realised it was a keeper.

I'll take your advice on the CB125F, hopefully next year.

A month ago I went in Bowens Moto's to buy a new Super Nova Meteor, but got smitten by a Vespa GTS250 2008 they had in the shop, they are a great scooter and enjoy riding it. My reason for going cold on the Meteor was the CB125F nearly does what the Meteor can do speed wise and out performs it in fuel economy and servicing costs are minimal.
Chris, try a Vespa before buying another bike, they are good and so easy to handle and move around.

Gear change is spot on since the oil change, I have a new Michelin city street on the back, changed because a mac flurry was needed on a ride and the new Mac Donald's car park had an unmade strip not backfilled properly and a flint worked its through the tyre,
Still interested in a Meteor, will buy a good used one during winter.
