I wouldn't mind doing that, other than the fact I'm fixing it to sell it and replacing it with a 650 Deauville...

Then I would simply apply the age old motor vehicle sales line:-
“Oh, they all do that sir”.
“Oh, they all do that sir”.

If you get a red Deauville 700 I have new pannier lids for it.

Thanks, however it's one of the NT650V variants from 2005. I believe the later year Deauvilles already came with the expanded lids?.
I've had a look through the Deauville thread prior to my purchase. As far as I can tell, the reasons that that bike wasn't purchased were unrelated to the bike. Power-wise, it has over twice that of my current bike and the reason I am replacing it isn't due to lack of power, but I fancied a bike with better touring capabilities (motorway wind protection and shaft-drive) for the coming year.

Correct, and it was me doing the purchasing/deciding.alihar07 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 12:06 amThanks, however it's one of the NT650V variants from 2005. I believe the later year Deauvilles already came with the expanded lids?.

The reason I posted the link up was to say that we'd debated the Deauville before, purely for information.
Regarding that decision by me, the bike was great, I wasn't put off from buying a Deauville by anything said. The information imparted was very useful.
That particular bike came with a lot of personal "baggage." I have bought similar "baggage," before and have no desire to go down that road again.
TLDR I'd have a Deaville. I didn't buy one because a low mileage Divvy 6 came up first.

I think bike recommendations and opinions are akin to oil recommendations.......everyone has a different opinion.
If you have ridden one and liked it then I’d say go for it, you may love it.
If not sell it on and choose something else.
A mate of mine had one for a few years until he rode it up a farm track (mistakenly), came to a locked gate and then couldn’t turn around and ended up paddling backwards for half a mile. He got a Silverwing afterwards - I did point out that the Silverwing was even longer and would have been even worse to turn around but his logic was it would have been easier to manage with a lower centre of gravity.
S’funny thing, he hasn’t been up any farm tracks ever since?

Aye, even the term "linear power delivery," is nirvana to some, and the spawn of Satan to others.Diesel Dave wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 7:54 amI think bike recommendations and opinions are akin to oil recommendations.......everyone has a different opinion.
