MD90 Forks

I thought that I would change the oil in my MD90 forks as I`ve had the bike 18 months or so & went to drain the old oil out but there is no drain plug that I can see! I assumed that as they are motorcycle type forks there is oil in them, so, is any body used to this type of fork, maybe on a Symba, & if so, can they be drained somehow or would that mean taking them off the bike - a bit more of a complex job?
As I have a new bottle of oil, perhaps I`d better change the oil on the CG125. I know that it has drain plugs on each side!

Do the Postie bike versions have drain plugs in the forks? Someone on here must have one but maybe they just use & abuse!

I'll have a look at the Postie and let you know - hopefully in January or February.

I do have quite a lot of detailed pics but nothing that shows the bottom of the forks.

However. If you have a look on CMSNL at the CT90 and CT110 listings you will see that on the CT90 diagram there is a bolt at the bottom of the forks called "bolt". On the CT110 diagram it is still called "bolt hex" but crucially the washer associated with it is "washer frt drain".

Thanks for the nudge to CMSNL, I hadn`t thought to look at their site although I have used it before. There is a section for the MD90 & there seem to be seals but It doesn`t show a drain & if there was one it would be in an obvious place as your pic shows. Maybe there is no oil other than a bit for lubrication rather than damping. I may get round to taking it to bits but not this year & maybe I`ll have forgotten about it by next year!

This has just come up on an Aus Postie bike page.

99 onwards CT110 have 85ml per leg and use 10w ATF (or 15w if you're not a lightweight).

They appear to have a different fork leg at the bottom with a cap underneath for draining but might help.

Thanks for that biker, but i`ve had a look under the fork & there`s nothing, in fact there`s a hole that you can see the wheel spindle through.
It may well be a remove & take apart job, but I just can`t be *rsed to do all that work & maybe for nothing!

if my memory is right you take the wheel spindle out there is a allen key fitting capscrew with a copper washer on it but its not only a drain plug it holds the internal rod john

You`re spot on lads, I`ve just had a quick look & taken the wheel out & there is a cross head screw that I can undo but can`t remove & I can only guess that what it`s screwed into is just turning as well. I can`t pull it out with a small magnet either, so it`s a fork out job I guess & you know what? I just can`t be *rsed at the moment, it`s too hot here & you sweat just sitting still - I can`t take this heat anymore, just too old!
Anyway, thanks again for your input, at least I know now & it won`t keep me awake at nights.
