Top end rattle was always an issue with the supposed self setting cam chain tensioner as mentioned by Slowboy.
We always added a touch more pressure to it with the rocker cover off and a 10mm T bar at a very awkward angle if i remember correctly.
The only sure way is to lift the rockers off and have a look not something a prospective seller would probably let you do.
Maybe on the spare if it clinched the deal .
We had a few come in with shot big ends as well but you can get that sorted with a crank regrind and oversize shells at a good engineering workshop.
Again lack of oil changes i expect perhaps it a Derbyshire thing
