Well, this turned up on Facebook marketplace.

A 1997 Divvy6, with a genuine 7300 miles, and the usual stuff to sort out on a bike that's spent more time in dry storage than on the road.

I'm very pleased with the purchase, especially so with the price.

great buy Ged. The 600 Divvy is a very under rated and fun to ride bike. In the day the fazer 600 was a better performer so the divvy was over shadowed. Mega low miles too. I'm 'well gell'.

Thanks, and it seems like one of those rare finds that is actually better the more you examine it.

After picking it up on Friday, I started writing the inevitable shopping list on Saturday morning, starting with a new set of plugs and a new battery.

Lo and behold, it's got a spanking new set of NGKs and a brand new Yuasa already fitted.

It's in astonishingly good condition. Someone evidently loved it. Nice to have a Bagster tank cover to fit my Bagster tank bag on, too. I've owned it 10 years and it's only seen daylight half a dozen times. 8-)

That’s nice. There are some real bargains out there if you just persevere.

This one’s my recent purchase with just 9027 miles on the clock. Previous owner really looked after it too.

Nice to see and own what's now becoming classic carb bikes, no electronics to make the fuel injection run. I enjoy my Honda CBF600S, simple to work on, if it goes wrong. Many in the Honda owners club keep the older bikes for club runs, they keep racking up the miles without problems.

There's a lot to be said for the pre fuel injection era bikes. Never rode a Deauville but racked up plenty of miles on an NTV 650 which I believe had the same motor as the early Deauvilles before they boosted the cc to 680 from 650. Never let me down and always returned same fuel consumption (50+mpg) regardless how it was ridden. Regular oil & filter changes saw many engines achieve more than 100,000 miles in the hands of the couriers.
Slow boy I am well "jealous" of your tri-colour FZS 600! Have you joined Foc-u.co.uk.? I have owned 2 Foxeye 600s, 1 Boxeye tricolour 600 & my all time favourite the 2002 Fazer FZS 1000-what a bike! Only advancing years & diminishing strength forced its sale. I currently ride the Tracer 700 which is a fantastic machine so comfortable I can ride 2 up all day without aches & pains. Engine is more reminiscent of the v twins with its 270 degree firing order wonderful torque without having to play tunes on the gear lever. I do miss the Fazers but I am very lucky to be able to continue riding at all after a close encounter with the "grim reaper" 18 months ago. Restoring Henry my C90-G cub was part of my convalescence! :D

I had a very low mileage 700 Deauville, two years ago. Cost me £4300 from a dealer.
I'd never have another one. Probably the worst bike I've ever had, not for reliability but for ugliness and lack of oomph. Should never have bought it.
Also, and this was a huge factor for me with 30" inside leg, the seat was very wide leaving my legs splayed out at too wide an angle. As a result I was not flat footed despite having the seat altered by Tony Archer
Sold it after 6 months to a Honda dealer in Chiswick who wanted it and bought it for £3700.
One of the very few bikes I was glad to see go

The 1997 XJ600S Diversion I've just bought with 7300 miles on it was just over a grand. It was probably "just over a grand," as the seller expected a haggle. I hate haggling. The bike was worth it to me, so that's what I paid. 8-)

Here are some more photos, in case they are useful for comparison.
