Ah a mate who is a bike importer here just sold a black bomber. ok needed switchgear but everything else was there, if somewhat neglected looking (think American pickers "farm fresh")

a local fella messaged me about a rather tidy CB200, so going to have a look at that as soon as i can. as its ideal age i was after a 74, and all legal and good to go, its pretty tidy but not over shiny. i do intend on using it after all. another bloke asked 600 notes for a mix n match CD175 1978.. nope! its needing a complete strip and rebuild and the chrome, is a nice orange shade all over, with a seized engine.. so moving swiftly on... If i can find a 70s bike ill be looking out for a benly 200 or a 250u.. the prices of these seem to vary wildly from a high hundreds.. to 4k!! and theres no rhyme nor reason to it as some of the big numbers bikes are tidy but hardly minters, and some of the lower priced bikes look just as clean. only major factor seems the mileage. but even then its inconsistent, seen 50k bikes at a couple of g's, and cheap bikes with a few thousand.

The only thing i keep finding is everyone speaks about the camchain tensioner and cam tunnel wear. i wish there was an easy way to check it withouth whipping off the cover.. i doubt the owners would be happy with me doing that and getting an inspection camera out.

Alan... what you looking for the benly? drop me a message with your "magic number" if its cheap enough... and nothing else turns up running soon at the price im willing to pay. bearing in mind id have to get it up north to Aberdeen

A contact has informed me he checked with someone he knows, They have a 1971 CB250/350 (he canr remember as its been 18 month since he seen it in the rust) in the lovely gold colour.. but its mostly gonna be orange of the rust these days. its all there, all complete, not large missing bits, and importantly.. its gonna be cheap! I cant get pics until the owner comes back from offshore. im trying not to get my hopes up too much as its probably a oxidised turd. i dunno what these make, and importantly what they would be as a project price?

In other developments i think I've just bought 2 PC50's a orange one thats a donor bike but all there apart from the fecked swingarm and rot where the engine mount is.. but the other is all there, running, stopping, lights, horn all work, starts 1st half turn of the pedal. it even has some lovely patina and accessories, little panniers and a tiny what looks like a rickman box, surface rust on wheels, and speckles on the frame.. just gonna wash it, and wax it to keep her looking her age now theres a frame on ebay, and importantly its solid on the engine mounts. but no v5, i was gonna buy it, and have my bro in law cut out the section of rot and graft in the piece from the "new" frame as both bikes show on the DVLA. and have V5s the red one is a 1970 (march) so i thing originally would have been the OHC engine, and the other is a 1975 bike and be OHV, but the guy im buying them from has swapped the engines around, as one was dry seized with age, and other was fine, he putt the running engine in the nicer, and earlier frame, i intend to rebuild the seized motor and fit the frame, so i can switch the engines around again. cant moan at the price, and he will even deliver them from Yorkshire to Aberdeen.. next weekend all being well.

One quick question they haven't been changed to "historic vehicle" yet on V5. do i have to go get it MOT'd and taxed, as the DVLA are still not doing much except for NHS
