Derestricting Vision 50

Post by Tranberg » Thu Feb 13, 2020 11:36 pm

The Vision 50 revs out to 9200 RPM instead of 7000 RPM with the ECU from a Vision 110

And what happens to the fuelling at 9200 rpm? Does the Vision 110 ecu know how much fuel to input at that speed on the smaller engine?
Just a thought

Is that a good thing? Not meaning to be difficult - but is that too much?

Surely assuming the O2 Sensor is working when the system is up to temperature and is in closed loop, the Ecu should keep the mixture accurate assuming it's not beyond its trim limits.

Spot on and that’s what I was referring to. I wonder if the injector would be up to supplying enough fuel. It is most possible given the small size. Just a thought

Always worth questioning whats happening when messing with stuff.
Regarding this one my ten bobs worth.
I would expect the throttle body and injector would be matched like a carburettor and main Jet for correct mixture at full throttle operation.
So on what would be Full throttle for a carburettor running on it's main jet would be the same as maximum Pulse width modulation for the injector.
Regardless of the revs above the originally limited revs the mixture would be correct for full throttle just more of the correct mixture being demanded because of the higher revs.
If there was a failure it would more likely be the pump not maintaining the fuel pressure for the higher fuel throughput at high revs but very unlikely i think as this model was probably made unrestricted and like many others doctored for the UK market.
Similair thing did cross my mind when looking at big boring a piston and bore damaged lexmoto titan to a 180 that had a Delphi MT05 EFI ended up just putting a 150 on it still running fine a year later.

Worth thinking about Vision 50 is a restricted moped unless you re register it is illegal unregistered if you defeat the restriction and ride on the road
Insurance ?? Licence
Some years ago a Fellow trader got £5000 and 6 points for doing this ! O to a 125 and for a Learner

I had a little success with a Malossi Variator kit on my girlfriends Vision 50. It went to around 37/38 mph on the flat so I imagine with an unrestricted CDI unit that might be even better.
I understand that’s illegal and all that jazz but humans have pushed the boundaries since the dawn of time and it happens.
Good fun too

Totally agree if your'e breaking the law be aware of it from robbing banks to riding push bikes on the pavement or even swearing in public places etc more laws added every week.

Curious about the case you mention though
How did the dealer get points for the modification ?. Points are only given for actual road traffic offences committed by the individual.

Was the dealer riding the unrestricted vehicle and if so being a motor bike dealer i assume he had a full licence and as a trader would have insurance to cover any vehicle (car bike van ) he was driving the usual umbrella we use when in the Trade.

Not in any way antagonistic just curious as dont fancy 6 points for taking out a variator washer next time i'm asked :)

I'd guess aid & abet or most likely use/cause/permit as the rider would have invalidated insurance then opened his gob dropping said party in the cack.

If your going to do something wrong keep it to yourself
