Hmmm, North sea is a tad shallow and Dutch trawlers drag the bottom constantly. (Apparently it takes a fleet of 600 trawlers equipped with high voltage specialised trawls for ‘scientific experimental’ fish stocks investigation, strikingly similar to the Japanese whaling approach)

I’ll have to consult the topographic sea chart around the U.K. now where is that super deep trench? :D

When I sat on a Himalayan I found the pegs were in the way when I put my feet down.
I found this was a big problem on a Pan European I nearly bought meaning I was having to splay my legs out too wide for comfort.
Any thoughts on the Himalayan pegs, chaps?

I’ve not noticed it being a problem, and I do need to ‘paddle backwards’ quite a few times from parking spots.

One thing regards the pegs - they are quite small and if you crank the bike over a long way in a corner the road surface can grab the outer sole and pull your foot off the peg.

I suppose I need a pair of those white racing style booties with the scuff pads on the outside.

Well that was interesting.

All good when on the bike, feet flat on the ground and nice riding position for me. Unfortunately the panniers are too high for me at the moment at least. There are various options though, like getting one without panniers and using throwovers or maybe get some ballet lessons.

Thanks to DD for helping me on and off his bike and apologies for any skidmarks on the pannier lids. :D

Having researched into getting the BMW to Aus and calculated the cost of registering it in Victoria it has occurred to me that this would almost buy one out there, much more sensible. Starting price at the mo of $7000 (about £3600) and still far less than a longish term rental.

I had an unexpected phone call from MotoGB (official Royal Enfield importers from India) yesterday regarding my claim for a new petrol tank for my Classic 500 that has a paint blemish. They are replacing it.
Anyway, as the conversation drew to a close I thought I'd ask him about the Himalayan. He told me categorically that they will never be putting the 650 twin engine in it.
However, when I mentioned to him that one complaint that seems to crop up from some riders, though not all, is that it could do with a bit more oomph.
His reply was that he couldn't give anything away but next year "Watch this space ".

Classic 500 Bullet has a lot more grunt but runs out of puff as the revs rise.
