It’s deceptively low, I can swing a leg over despite the cases and I only have 28” inseam and 3 fused vertebrae. Of course the seat is too soft as all modern bikes are, seems to be made of some sort of gell rather than foam.

I see no reason why it can’t be used for extended touring, it has a lot more power than my old 10hp diesel, controls are light and positive - the only think I may tune is the seat and that would be for a firmer version.

So far it’s proving great at shopping, but your SH is probably batter at that anyway.

I've had two test rides on a Himalayan. The first was on the early model the week it was released, the power unit made a noise like a hammer mill, and the steering weaved between 20 and 30 mph. I had another go on the improved model last month and it was fully better by a long way. I'd been looking at a CCM GP 450 Adventure (used low mileage), but I still haven't made my mind up, I've run around on Enfields for the last 30 year's. If Hitchcocks gear up for spares, then I don't think there will be supply problems. It'll be most interesting to see how you get on. I agree about the seat, it needs replacing. For touring ? I did a lot on a 350 Bullet, so the Himalayan will be like a rocket.

In that case you defo have to try touring on a 10hp diesel Bullet, then even you Cub feels rapid afterwards.

I've built a couple of diesels using 10hp Yanmar diesels driving through CVT transmission instead of a standard gearbox. It makes a huge difference to the acceleration up to around 50-55 mph.

I bought a Himalayan in June, did a 150 mile ride two up last sunday,found it really comfy and the engine has character. I am really enjoying it.

And its this one rang up to arrange ride on above motorbike,so with the Suzuki address along side,yeah in height,goes inside for very nice cup of coffee,oitside with dealer bloke,he moves in out of way [for other bikes] "there are all yours" I cannot get my leg over its ssssssooooooooo tall so he is holding from the front,still cannot do it.
This time gets a good swing of leg and gets it stuck on the grab handle now cannot move.now my right side of back/leg is hurting badly so with a yell gets my leg all over.
Did it hurt,sat there thinking "its no good cannot do it"so with 2 people holding the bike some how gets my leg back over,i cannot do it,its too tall and am not going back to back pain last easter couldn't move for 16 days,back went getting out of the bath.
So that was it,at least I tried,

Watched them all, and went and bought one. Should have it next week.

I did a lot of long distance stuff in the late seventies/early eighties on an XT 500 and the Himalayan brought back a lot of good memories.

congrats, I'm sure you'll love it. the only issue I hear about now on the owners FB page is occasionally stalling. isn't that what big singles do?? mines done it 3 times in 400 miles so no problem. If your going to buy any accessories for it I have a great contact in Delhi, reliable and cheap prices on genuine R/E stuff,arrives within a week..

Were any of you tempted to wait until they bring it out as a 650cc?
