also, I don't think it will be long before I need a clutch

honda or ebc etc?

just plates or clutch centre, springs etc.

EBC...

+1 for ebc - never had a problem before with anything ebc - front pads and clutch plates have been OK for high mileage

thanks remmington

I've ordered ebc friction plates and springs and a set of honda metal plates and a new bearing

I'm still having lean issues, can anybody tell me if the jet needle is adjustable? (yes I can take it out but always ping the clip into the gravel...)

I've tried googling the image but it's ambiguous

:)

Yes there is a clip so check and put it lower to lift the needle and add a bit more fuel . Have you got the factory exhaust and air filter ?

yes, proper air filter and air box

exhaust is a hi-level, looks identical, I do have a used honda one on the way so could try that

I will have the carb off again tomorrow for another sonic and also check the needle position, it's flat pretty much everywhere so it's looking like that will be the culprit

thanks

hi guys

I have the carb off again, the needle is a fixed type so unable to adjust it's position

I'm struggling here, I tried spraying around the manifold and there was no change in engine speed so assuming there is not leak here, visually the o-rings look to be in good shape

the needle (marked b37v) also looks in good condition without any matt areas, needle jet cam out ok and does not look damaged in any way

it has a #38 slow and #90 main jet installed which tally with the parts fiche, the slow jet and jet holder/emulsion tube holes are clear (the slow jet is difficult to see through but I can, easy to blow through so does seem blocked)

the float valve is a non adjustable, the float itself has no visible damage and the valve seals well

carb is in the ultrasonic again

is there anything I'm missing? performance very low throttle is clean but more than 1/4 throttle you can feel it hunting and power is anaemic including full throttle

thanks in advance

:)

Plug chop , when it happens again clutch in and ignition off immediately ,stop and remove the plug ,then you can see what is going on ;) .

thanks guys

I've just refitted everything and will have a try out tomorrow, although not clutch in stop plug checking, the plug has been white, best was a very very light tan

the jets have been through the cleaner twice now and blown through with compressed air

will keep you updated

:)
