Post by JohnS » Thu Jan 10, 2019 2:01 pm

For the 4th year running I will be be renewing my Scooter insurance with Carole Nash.
I could save a fiver by going elsewhere, but I'd rather stay with the devil I know.

My renewal just came up with Hastings Direct. I used the Asda price comparison site and Bennetts came back at half the price. I went back to Hastings and got a £50 reduction. Still more expensive on paper but I went with them because I know by the time Bennetts have finished, their actual price will be a lot more than the original quote. Plus, Hastings cover me for any bike, which is really handy.

Just as a matter of interest - what sort of premiums - are you paying - for a C90 - full licence - aged fifty plus - vehicle garaged overnight?

I have motortrade insurance - block policy - and just add the numberplate of my 110i - but of late I have noticed on the covernote - they have restricted me to only bikes of 300cc or under.

£65-£70 per year TPFT. 56 year old rider, garaged overnight, and zero no claims*.

* I don't bother with the hassle of registering no-claims-discount for the Cub. My W800 costs around the same amount fully comprehansive, with maximum (9 years) no claims. I could register the Cub's no-claims years too but it's unlikely to drop the premiums enough to make worthwhile the "kill-me-now" feeling of explaining the intricacies of having two bikes on separate policies to insurance company admin people every year.

You should try explaining Diesel engined bikes to the insurance companies.

Could be worse, I hear the rat bike community have a really hard time....

Still at least it’s not a custom Cub.......

So £145 for my SH300 fully comp, with legal cover isn't too bad.
